Thank you to the Stow Community Chest for their generous donation to our Fund A Bed program. We appreciate their ongoing support for Household Goods.

For people living without furniture, a bed is the foundation for rest, recovery, and a reset for more hopeful days ahead. This year, Household Goods will furnish more than 3,000 homes. When our donated supply of mattresses runs low, we fill the gaps by purchasing mattresses, boxsprings and other essential items through our Fund a Bed program.

Volunteers needed for the annual BC Move Out, our biggest (and most fun!) volunteer mobilization/coordination week of the year, as collect all of the essential household goods BC students part with as they leave campus. The thousands of items we take in during just that week help so many individuals and families in need far into the year.

We need lots of help between May 10 - May 20, both at Household Goods and at Boston College. EXTRA extra help is needed on Monday, May 18 on campus at Boston College for Commencement.

We need many hands in many locations to make it all work. This is the one volunteer job where no orientation session is required, so please join us and invite your friends, share on "social," call in IOUs, whatever it takes!

Mother's Day is this Sunday - May 10, 2026

This Mother's Day, you can honor a mom in your life by helping a mom in need make a home for her children through supporting Household Goods. Here are several ways you can do so; please visit https://www.householdgoods.org/mom/ for complete details.

A gift of $150 will help Household Goods provide a full range of donated furniture and household items to a mom who has been living without basic home furnishings. We will send the mom you designate a personal note to let her know that you have chosen to honor her in this thoughtful and very meaningful way.

Volunteer with a Mom: Sign up for our Volunteer with a Mom day on Saturday, May 9. https://www.householdgoods.org/mom/

Assemble and Donate Kitchen Starter Sets: Most of the people who come to Household Goods need the most basic kitchen items. Kitchen starter sets are a great way to set up a kitchen for our clients. Making these sets is easy-- learn how at https://www.householdgoods.org/kitchen-starter-kits-you-can-make-at-home/
