Thank you to the volunteers from Boston Scientific who spent time with us during their company-wide Week of Caring, organized by Building Impact . The group helped us complete a time-sensitive BC linen sorting project, relocated furniture to prepare for an upcoming donation shift, assembled towel sets, and fully stocked our rug room.

That's a lot of ground covered in a short amount of time, and it made a real difference for us. We appreciate Boston Scientific and Building Impact for making it happen.

BC Move Out 2026 is a wrap — and wow, what a week.

For the 16th year, the Household Goods community showed up to collect the thousands of items that students leaving campus donated during the May student move out. These household goods will support individuals and families in need for months to come.

A heartfelt thank you to Boston College for including us in the annual move out and to all the volunteers who helped make this possible. And a special shout out to Monsters in the Basement, a local cycling group who has been volunteering during the Boston College move out since 2015. They worked long into the night to unload the thousands of items collected on graduation day alone.

Father's Day is fast approaching - June 21, 2026

By supporting Household Goods, you can honor a dad in your life by helping a father in need create a safe, comfortable, and welcoming home for his family. Here are several ways you can get involved:
A gift of $150 will help Household Goods provide a full range of donated furniture and household items to a dad working hard to establish a home for his family. The father you choose to honor will receive a personal note from us, acknowledging your thoughtful and impactful gift.

Volunteer with a Dad: Household Goods is hosting a "Volunteer with a Dad" day on Saturday, June 20. Sign up alongside a dad in your life, or sign up as a dad and bring your children (minimum age 14 years) to share in a day of giving back to the community. Call 978-635-1710 and select option 3, or email [email protected] to secure your spot, as space is limited.

Assemble and Donate Kitchen Starter Sets: The vast majority of families who turn to Household Goods arrive lacking the absolute basics. Kitchen starter sets are an incredible way to help a father get his new household up and running. Assembling these sets is a simple, tangible project. Making these sets is easy-- learn how at https://www.householdgoods.org/kitchen-starter-kits-you-can-make-at-home/

We are thrilled to announce that we have been selected as one of 150 nonprofits to receive funding through Cummings Foundation’s annual grant program. Household Goods will receive $225,000 over three years.

"We are deeply grateful to the Cummings Foundation for its investment in Household Goods and the families we serve," said Sharon Martens, Executive Director of Household Goods. "This support helps ensure that thousands of individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness, escaping domestic violence, or facing financial hardship can create homes filled with comfort, and hope. Together, we are transforming donated furniture and household items into stable homes and brighter futures."

We have an ongoing need for student volunteers (ages 14 and over) to assist with various projects in our center in Acton.

Students sign up for volunteer opportunities that best fit their own schedules, primarily attending on Saturdays, during breaks from school, and during the summer.

Volunteering at Household Goods is a great way for students to meet new people, develop and practice leadership skills, be a part of a team, help the community, earn community service hours, and more.
