Dear friends,

Big Oil needs our help! In these tough economic times, fossil fuel companies just aren't making enough money. The Big Five oil companies—BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, and Shell—made only $137 billion in 2011. They deserve more than the paltry $11 billion in fossil fuel subsidies that taxpayers are already handing them. Don't they?

So on August 4th, citizens across Massachusetts will hold Spare Change for Big Oil! donation drives. We want to find out how Americans really feel about these handouts.

LWVMA and LWV Concord-Carlisle are co-sponsoring a forum on Thursday, May 17th, 7:30-9:30pm at the Concord-Carlisle High School Auditorium, 500 Walden St, Concord. Tom Ashbrook, Host of 90.9 WBUR Boston's On Point will be moderating. A panel of experts will share their views on the role of money in the 2012 landscape and discuss options for citizen action in response. This event is free and open to the public.
