Grace is one of the most misunderstood words in Christianity.

Grace is not God’s permission slip to continue living in sin.

Grace does not excuse drunkenness, sexual immorality, dishonesty, addiction, or rebellion against God’s commands. Grace does not call evil good, and it does not lower God’s standard of holiness.

Some people treat grace as a license to sin. The Bible says otherwise:

“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid.” (Romans 6:1-2)

Grace does not give us freedom to sin.

Grace gives us freedom from sin.

Grace is God’s unearned favor that meets us in our brokenness, forgives us when we repent, restores us when we fall, and empowers us to walk in obedience.

Grace picks us up when we stumble.
Grace teaches us to deny ungodliness.
Grace strengthens us to live differently.
Grace reminds us that failure is not final when we turn back to Christ.

Titus 2:11-12 says:

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.”

If your version of grace leaves you comfortable in sin, you’ve misunderstood grace.

True grace doesn’t leave you where it found you.

It transforms you.

Recovery without accountability is just good intentions with no direction.

You can attend meetings, read books, and talk about change all day long, but if nobody has permission to ask the hard questions, real growth will be limited.

The Bible teaches accountability:

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.” James 5:16

Healing happens in the light. Addiction grows in secrecy. Freedom grows in honesty.

If no one can challenge you, correct you, or speak truth into your life, you don’t have a recovery program, you have a comfort program.

Find people who love you enough to tell you the truth. Stay teachable. Stay accountable. Stay free.

Your story matters.

Someone is waiting on the other side of your obedience.

It is easy to stay comfortable. Easy to stay quiet. Easy to believe that your testimony is not important enough, polished enough, or powerful enough. But God has never needed perfection to change lives. He uses surrendered people.

Your testimony is not just about where you have been. It is about what God brought you through. The pain. The failures. The victories. The healing. The redemption.

You may feel nervous. You may feel unqualified. You may even think, "What if people judge me?"

But what if your story becomes the reason someone holds on one more day?

What if your honesty gives someone else courage?

What if your scars become proof that God still restores broken things?

Growth happens outside comfort zones. Faith grows when fear loses its grip.

Take the step. Share your story. Shine light into places darkness once lived.

"Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what He has done for my soul." Psalm 66:16

Who is willing to step out and share what God has done in their life?
