Congratulations Eion! One of the MANY extracurricular activities Eion is involved in is volunteering and serving his community with our department!! Way to set the bar high!

Six Garrett County Public Schools graduates reached an incredible milestone this springโ€”earning both their high school diploma and an associate degree from Garrett College through the Laker Institute.

Even more impressive, all six graduated with academic honors while balancing college coursework, extracurricular activities, and leadership roles.

"The partnership between Garrett College and Garrett County Public Schools is second to none... working together to do great things for students." โ€” Paul Edwards

Congratulations to these outstanding graduates on this remarkable achievement!

Rest easy Brother, we will take it from here.

Line of Duty Death Announcement

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Company announces the Line of Duty Death of Firefighter Eugene Cervi.

Firefighter Cervi faithfully served his community as a dedicated member of the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Company. His commitment to the fire service, his fellow members, and the citizens and visitors of the Deep Creek Lake area reflected the highest traditions of volunteer emergency service.

Eugeneโ€™s service, sacrifice, and devotion will never be forgotten. His loss is deeply felt by our fire company, our families, our emergency services partners, and the community we are honored to serve.

We ask that you keep Eugeneโ€™s family, friends, and the members of the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Company in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Funeral and memorial service arrangements will be shared once they are finalized.

Rest easy, Firefighter Cervi. We will take it from here.

The Accident Volunteer Fire Dept would like to congratulate our member Levi Carrington on receiving the 2025โ€“2026 Outstanding Male Student-Athlete of the Year at ACM. Congratulations Levi!

Allegany College of Maryland proudly names Levi Carrington as the 2025โ€“2026 Outstanding Male Student-Athlete of the Year.
A rare multi-sport competitor, Levi made his mark as a two-year starting goalkeeper for ACM Menโ€™s Soccer while also contributing to the Trojans baseball program and even stepping in to support menโ€™s basketball during the 2025 season. His versatility, toughness, and team-first mindset set him apart across the department.

On the field, Carrington recorded over 200 career saves in goal and consistently anchored the Trojans defensively. On the mound, he embraced opportunities and competed wherever he was neededโ€”always putting the team first.

In the classroom, Levi excelled, graduating with an Associateโ€™s Degree in Business Administration. He earned NJCAA All-Academic honors in back-to-back years and was named to the Deanโ€™s List multiple semesters, with additional honors expected this spring.
This award, voted on by ACMโ€™s athletic administration and staff, reflects the respect Levi earned through his work ethic, leadership, and commitment to excellence.

Congratulations, Leviโ€”your impact on ACM Athletics will not be forgotten.

Fire education is always important!

Today we held a small class for 4 future firefighters, ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿš’ Eva, ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿš’ Rebecca, ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿš’ Kierra, and ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿš’ Myra. (At least we are trying convince them!).

We learned about fire safety in our homes ๐Ÿก, the different types of trucks ๐Ÿš’, tried on some heavy gear ๐Ÿ”ฅ, and even played with Chief, the Fire Dog! ๐Ÿพ

Learning is never boring here! Always accepting new volunteers!

๐Ÿšจ TORNADO WATCH IN EFFECT โ€“ GARRETT COUNTY ๐ŸŒช๏ธ

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Garrett County until 8PM this evening. Conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms that could produce tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail.

A watch means tornadoes are possible. Now is the time to prepare and stay alert.

โœ… What You Should Do Now:

Monitor reliable weather sources and enable weather alerts on your phone

Identify your safe place โ€” a basement or small interior room on the lowest floor, away from windows

Have shoes, a flashlight, and a way to receive warnings nearby

Secure outdoor items that could become airborne in strong winds

Be ready to act quickly if a warning is issued

โš ๏ธ If a Tornado Warning is issued or a tornado is spotted:

Take shelter immediately

Move to the lowest level of your home or building

Protect your head and neck

Do NOT try to outrun a tornado in a vehicle

Garrett County Emergency Management will continue monitoring conditions and provide updates as needed.

Stay weather aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings.
