Today is Abortion Provider Appreciation Day. 🎉

Today we celebrate abortion providers — the people who show up every day with compassion, courage, and creativity to care for their communities.

Providing abortion care is an act of love and liberation. It’s work rooted in community, carried forward across generations by people who believe everyone deserves the freedom to shape their own lives.

Abortion providers trust people to know what’s best for themselves. They provide care with respect, compassion, and deep commitment to their patients and communities.

The people who work in abortion clinics are our neighbors, partners, parents, friends, and community members — clinicians, counselors, administrators, patient navigators, security staff, volunteers, and clinic escorts all working together so people can get the care they need.

Even in the face of political attacks, harassment, and barriers designed to make abortion harder to access, providers continue to show up.

Because care is their legacy.
And care is their promise to the future.

Independent clinics provide abortion care and so much more. They are trusted community health centers that care for people at every stage of life.

As long as people need abortions, there will be providers who show up with compassion, strength, and dedication.

It does not have to be this way. We do not have to sit idly while our neighbors are kidnapped and mothers are murdered. This violence is state-inflicted terror meant to inhibit action. At least people 36 died via ICE in 2025. These were not fated or inescapable deaths. It’s wholly preventable.

Yesterday’s murder of Renee Nicole Good was not, by far, the first time an armed state actor has so blatantly and directly killed. As Ohioans, we are immediately reminded of Ta’Kiya Young, a pregnant Black mother, who was shot & killed through her car’s windshield in August 2023. She was 21. Ta’Kiya’s killer was found not guilty on all charges.

We don’t have to live & die like this.
