It’s Time for THE BIG DEAL 2016 and we need your help!
On behalf of the Shining Down: The Jim Lafferty Memorial Foundation and the Big Deal 2016 Planning Committee, we are seeking your support for our annual signature fundraising
event, The Big Deal 2016.
The BIG DEAL 2016 will take place on Friday, April 1st at the Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Pennsylvania. We appreciate any form of support you can offer, whether it is a silent or live auction item, corporate sponsorship, a monetary donation, or gift of service. All money raised will go toward the JIM LAFFERTY MEMORIAL RESEARCH GRANT, administered by Shining Down, Inc. and ZERO: The Project to End Prostate Cancer.
100% of money raised will be granted to fund innovative prostate cancer research.
Jim Lafferty was diagnosed with terminal stage four prostate cancer at the age of 35. He died in December 2010 at the young age of 40. Despite his terminal diagnosis, and due to his extraordinary personality, Jim never “laid down” to his disease. Instead, he made his remaining years a passionate endeavor to educate men of all ages and their families about prostate cancer, treatment options, and sharing his story in every forum he could. Among the nearly two thousand people who came to pay their last respects to Jim and his family were many that had never met him, but had either heard him speak on the topic and/or spent hours communicating with him seeking advice. We are passionate about continuing Jim Lafferty’s tireless mission to fund research that will lead to more effective prostate cancer treatment options and potentially, a cure.
