Joppatowne Christian Church hosted the Emergency Rotating Shelter for two weeks in a row. This small church relied heavily on the surrounding community and they showed up in a big way. Meals were provided, volunteers stepped in, and love was shared every single day.

🚨 IMPORTANT HEADS UP 🚨
❄️ Harford County Freezing Weather Plan & Code Blue Activation ❄️
⚠️ Please read carefully and share as needed ⚠️

Activation of Code Blue and the Freezing Weather Plan will start Sunday January 18, 2026 until Wednesday morning January 21, 2026.

The schedule of the warming center at
1000 Gateway Dr.
Edgewood MD 21040:

Open for intake Sunday the 18th beginning at 4:00 pm. The center will stay open all day and night on Monday the 19th. Tuesday Morning the 20th it will close at 7:00 am and everyone will exit at that time. It will reopen @ 5:00 pm Tuesday night for intake. It will then close Wednesday @ 7:00 am at that point the activation will end. As always, they will be re- evaluating at that point.

As a reminder, HCAA and many other offices will be closed on Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King holiday so all referrals other than during business hours on Tuesday the 20th must be directly with the County or through coordination with local law enforcement

If you are currently an unhoused adult and in need of shelter, the Harford County Hope for the Homeless Alliance Emergency Rotating Shelter has space available.

This shelter operates at rotating churches and serves as overflow for the regular shelter. Overnight stays are available, along with daytime shelter on Saturdays and Sundays. Guests are provided hot meals, clean blankets, and a safe, welcoming space. Our volunteers would love to get to know you and support you in whatever way you are comfortable with.

All shelter placements in Harford County are coordinated through the Harford Community Action Agency (HCAA).

• Country Time lemonade mix
• Kool-Aid (Tropical Punch) mix

• Folgers regular coffee
• Heavy-duty paper plates
• Paper towels
• Toilet paper
• Individually wrapped snacks (chips, candy, cupcakes, etc.)

Donations can be dropped off at JCC this week on Thursday and Friday from 12–8 PM. Thank you for helping us extend dignity, care, and hope to our neighbors in need. 💜
