Abilene Fly Fishers

Abilene Fly Fishers Abilene Fly Fishers (AFF) is a fly fishing club in Abilene, Texas, USA. We all have respect and admiration for any one in the Armed Forces.

It is our desire to promote the sport of fly fishing because we have all been touched by the peacefulness and exhilaration of fly fishing in stunning places. OUR STORY

Abilene Fly Fishers has another story - Our story is simple – a group of friends came together after hearing about the concept of fly fishing helping injured Veterans. Several of our members are veterans and many of us have relativ

es that served. HAVS (Healing Adventures for Veterans and Survivors) is our sister organization and is a unique, community-based, non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to the physical and psychological rehabilitation of active duty military personnel and veterans with disabilities through the therapeutic benefits of the sport of fly fishing. (There is no minimum percentage of disability to qualify.) We hope to begin meeting soon in 2021 after things become safer. We will practice fly casting and will begin fly tying and rod building activities soon. As we continue to build relationships and skills, we will plan various outings to fly fish. If you are a disabled veteran or disabled active duty military and are interested in the sport of fly fishing, please message us here. We would love for you to join us and begin learning about the peacefulness and calming effect of fly fishing in some of the most beautiful places in the USA. If you are interested in volunteering, please message us here also and we will be in contact with you.

AJ Gretillat here. I had the pleasure of spending some time in Northern Idaho for a little Fly Fishing. I fished North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River, Tepee Creek, Big Creek, Marble Creek, the St Joe River, Lake Coeur d'Alene, and Harrison Lake (high mountain). It was an amazing trip with some awesome folks.
