West Texas Harm Reduction mourns the loss of one of our own.
Jeff was a harm reductionist to his core.
He was vital in helping build the West Texas Harm Reduction Permian Basin chapter, but his contribution was bigger than helping create a chapter. Jeff helped create a movement in a part of Texas where this work has never been easy.
He carried Narcan. He handed out fentanyl test strips. He brought supplies directly to people who needed them. He educated people, stood beside people who use drugs, and believed that every single life was worth saving.
There’s a picture of Jeff holding a sign that says:
“I carry Narcan because I’m tired of losing my friends to a preventable death.”
That was Jeff.
He understood this work because it was personal. He knew harm reduction wasn’t about judgment or politics. It was about keeping somebody alive long enough to see another sunrise.
Jeff was a warrior. A friend. An advocate. And part of the foundation of harm reduction in West Texas.
The Permian Basin chapter would not be what it became without him, and West Texas Harm Reduction will always carry a piece of Jeff with us.
Now we carry the Narcan for you, brother.
We keep showing up for you.
We keep fighting for you.
We keep loving people where they are for you.
Rest easy, Jeff. Your work mattered. Your life mattered. And your legacy will continue every time one of us puts Narcan into somebody’s hands and says, “Keep this with you. You might save a life.”
Once a harm reductionist, always a harm reductionist.

For close to a decade, West Texas Harm Reduction has stood beside people others overlook. We give out Narcan, education, and respect. We didn't get into this work for attention or followers. We did it because people are dying and every life counts. Real advocacy is steady, consistent, compassionate. It's not public mockery of folks living with homelessness, mental illness, or substance use. Those are the exact communities this crisis hits the hardest. With the help of community partners, state wide partners, and national partners, we have been able to love and support people exactly where they are at in life. Love is the method. Trends fade, service remains. We'll keep showing up. Lives over likes.
