We’ve had a busy spring and it isn’t slowing down! June is a special month in that it’s the kickoff to our summer range camps- each year we are proud to be able to support the education of young individuals in range management through hands on learning experiences. Next week is Students Of Stewardship - TSSRM and a few weeks later is Texas Section SRM Youth Range Workshop. Our membership has worked incredibly hard behind the scenes to prepare for these upcoming events and we can’t wait to see our team do the range thing! Follow along this month to see what adventures lie ahead!

We are blessed with several sponsors this year! First and foremost is Texas Section SRM. They have generously supported this program from the very beginning, when Dan Caudle and Jenny Pluhar had an idea and a plan and made it work! https://texassrm.org/

Good morning Rangers! Start your day with a little “Coffee with Coffman”- TSSRM President Coffman that is.

Our days seem busier now than ever, and Fridays are no different. But…if you find yourself needing a little extra motivation this morning, we hope to inspire you to keep finding your ‘why’ for rangeland management…and whatever other endeavors are in front of you. Oh, and bear with us…we aren’t paid actors, just passionate individuals talking about rangelands 🤣.

Have a fabulous Friday!

We like to brag on Texas SRM being a collective “melting pot” of rangeland knowledge — today’s Range & Pasture Field Day hosted by Alligare, TTUS - 3 Rivers Ranch w/ Texas Tech Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources, and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service was a great example and proved that statement!

Speakers had more than just rangeland management in their respective professions in common; they are all active members of Texas SRM! From University academics, chemical reps, agency employees to private sector experts and private landowners, today’s gathering at Three Rivers Ranch had a little bit of everything sprinkled in. Topics included a history of the Three Rivers Ranch, benefits of mesquite control, virtual fencing, a field tour observing the success of treatment on mesquite plots, and a message on Texas SRM and our promotion of the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists.

If you’ve made it this far, be on the lookout Friday morning for a special message from TSSRM President Matt Coffman. Stay tuned…

Have a great evening ‘Rangers!!’

One of the greatest parts of TSSRM is the relationships we’ve built in this industry. Coming together at events not only involves professional development and networking. It’s catching up with old friends, or building new friendships with like minded professionals that is such a beautiful rewarding bonus to our involvement in this organization.

This past weekend we saw at least a couple dozen TSSRM members at the Sonora Research Station Endowment Fund 110th anniversary gathering. Many were running vendor booths for their respective profession, guiding field tours, speaking on latest research and industry updates, and some of us were toting around little plant nerds in training!

Like the rangelands that surround us, we are growing and evolving every day. If you’re interested in getting involved with the Texas Section, there’s room for you here. See you down the road!
