Our last fact about Mayna Haggard! She will be speaking at the BCIS meeting this weekend, August 8th at 10:30 am in the chapel of the Garrison Campus Center on the McMurry University campus.

“Winterizing: Putting Your Babies to Bed” is the title of her program! She’ll explain what to do with your irises after the bloom season is over. Do I thin them? Do I cut the leaves back? Do I fertilize? All your questions will be answered!

The meeting is open to the public and free! We even have door prizes!

We’ve been giving you facts and information about Mayna over the last four weeks. This time it’s non-irises facts!

Another fact about our speaker for the August meeting, Mayna Haggard. She is training to be a judge for the American Iris Society!

Here is another fact about Mayna Haggard, our presenter for our August 8th BCIS meeting! We all look forward to entering iris shows in the spring. And we also hope to someday win a Best of Show (Queen of Show). Well, Mayna has!

She will be presenting “Winterizing: Putting Your Babies to Bed.” Come to the chapel in the Garrison Campus Center at McMurry on August 8th to learn what to do with your irises following the blooming season! The program begins at 10:30 am.

“Winterizing: Putting Your Babies to Bed,” is our next program on August 8th! Mayna Haggard will be our presenter. We’ve been sharing facts about Mayna with you before the program. Here are the National American Iris Society meetings she has attended!

So come on over to McMurry University on August 8th at 10:30 am to learn what to do with your irises after blooming season! We meet in the chapel of the GarrisonCampus Center. The program is free and open to the public!

OUR NEW ADOPTION!

At our last meeting we voted on our adoption for this year. (Last year, we adopted the iris beds at Swenson House.)

This year we are adopting BUFFALO GAP HISTORIC VILLAGE! There are crowded irises in front of Hill House on the Village grounds. (As shown on the photo)

So, dear BCIS members, get ready to bring lots of water and shovels and buckets to thin them. We will send out an email when we set the date!

These irises will be available to buy at our September 12th Iris Sale. We will also have another Rhizome Rescue contest this year!
