The mission of the Saunders Center is to embrace joy, foster spaces of rest and renewal, and promote the essential elements of a good and flourishing life for students at ACU and beyond. The Mission of the Saunders Center for Joy and Human Flourishing at ACU is to:

(1) Foster interdisciplinary research on joy, well-being, and human flourishing,
(2) Equip the ACU and broader community with strate

gies for enhancing quality of life,
(3) Engage students, faculty, and the broader ACU community in meaningful dialogue about what constitutes a good life,
(4) Integrate faith perspectives with contemporary insights from psychology, philosophy, social sciences, and the arts.

Eighteen months of fundraising, six months of construction, and we are nearing the finish line building the (physical) Saunders Center for Joy and Human Flourishing at ACU. All that’s left now is an inspection and moving in some really cool furniture, including three nap pods from Restworks. We are aiming to have our grand opening in late September, and I couldn’t be more excited about this unplugged, screen-free space on campus for students to disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with themselves, with their Creator, and with each other. 💖🌟

If you're in the vicinity of Abilene Christian University on Monday, March 16, make plans to hear Dr. Miroslav Volf, Henry B. Wright Professor of Theology and Founding Director of the Yale Center for Faith and Culture. He will be speaking in morning Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on his latest book, The Cost of Ambition. Then at 6:00 p.m. the Saunders Center for Joy and Human Flourishing will host a public reception for Dr. Volf, followed by a lecture at 7:00 p.m. in the Williams Performing Arts Center's Fulks Theatre. His award winning books will be on sale during the event, followed by a book signing afterwards. You may register for the event below:
