Skai Jackson is opening up about the quiet battles she faced behind the scenes as a Disney star.
The actress recently revealed that she had to advocate for herself to wear her natural curls and braids while filming, saying she was “very strong” about what she wanted because she knew representation mattered. Skai shared that she wanted young Black girls watching at home to see someone who looked like them embracing their natural hair on screen.
Although she described her overall Disney experience positively, she admitted that standing firm wasn’t always easy. Her story is a powerful reminder that sometimes the biggest changes begin with someone simply refusing to compromise who they are.
Representation matters, and because of voices like Skai’s, more young girls can grow up seeing the beauty of natural hair celebrated! 🤎✨
