What a great day at the GRITs Veteran & Senior Resources Fair! 💜 We loved spending time visiting with our senior veterans here in Abilene and connecting with so many incredible service providers in our community.

It was inspiring to see everyone come together in one place to serve those who served us. Big thanks to the nursing student volunteers taking blood pressures and blood sugar checks, and to every organization that showed up to support our veterans today.

And yes… we even made some new scaly and slithery friends along the way. 🦎🐍 Thank you GVSR for hosting such a meaningful event!

🤍 Dress code: ALL WHITE. Pull out the white dress, the white shirt, the white pants, the white shoes. If it is white, wear it!

Why white? At every Walk to End Alzheimer's, the white flower in our Promise Garden stands for the first survivor of this disease. We wear white because we believe that survivor is coming, and there is nothing like a room full of people dressed in white for that reason.

RSVP to Tamara Hunter at 512-621-0659

Grab your friends, put on your white, and let's fill People's Plaza. Thank you, Hunter's Heroes, for going above and beyond for the families in our community facing Alzheimer's. 💜

Wear white. Show you care. Help end Alzheimer's.

Which flower are you?

As we get ready for Walk Day here in Abilene, we want to honor the stories behind every Promise Garden flower. Each color represents a powerful connection to our mission.

💙 Blue represents someone living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia.
💛 Yellow represents a caregiver or someone supporting a person living with the disease.
💜 Purple represents someone we have lost to Alzheimer’s.
🧡 Orange represents every person who believes in our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s.
🤍 White represents the first survivor of Alzheimer’s, the future we are fighting for together.

When these flowers rise in the air, we stand united. Every color matters. Every story matters. And every step brings us closer to the day we finally hold that White Flower in celebration.

Share your color in the comments and tell us who you Walk for.
