After an awesome weekend of CALF and all of the amazing events, story times, activities that were available to our community, what do you do with your young readers this week? Well, the Community Book Room, sponsored by Atmos Energy, will be open at Global Samaritan Resources tomorrow, June 17th from 9:00 to Noon.

We are beyond grateful to Atmos Energy for their faithful partnership in sponsoring our Community Book Room as a part of their Fueling Safe & Thriving Communities initiative. For close to a decade, Atmos has sponsored our Community Book Room and now, thanks, in part, to their generosity, we will be working to expand the Book Room...hopefully, this fall, we will begin construction and add additional space, so we can provide even more books to the readers of Abilene!

What an incredible week!

This week, Global Samaritan Resources has been blessed to have a group of teens from Lake Jackson Church of Christ serving alongside us. They worked so hard, that we were worn out and forgot to take pictures of them working! Sorry guys!

Together, they helped us shelve product in our Non-Profit Resource Center, sort donations for our Teacher Resource Room, cleaned up debris from our recent roofing project, removed and discarded tons of old and dusty boxes that we no longer needed, picked up trash and washed our box truck and pick up! They were awesome and they did it all with joy and were singing worship songs all throughout their days.

Thanks Lake Jackson Church of Christ for sending us some amazing kids this week! We wait with anticipation for their return next June!

Come see us this morning! The Community Book Room, sponsored by Atmos Energy, is open today, Wednesday, June 10th from 9:00 AM to Noon.

If you have grandparents or family coming to Abilene for CALF, this is a great way to stock up on books for them to read to your kids or if you have grands coming, come get some books to read to them while they are staying at your house!

All books are FREE and yours to keep. We have THOUSANDS of free books for the youngest readers in Abilene to the oldest readers in Abilene.

CALF is just around the corner and that is always an exciting opportunity for our community! Events like CALF are important as it inspires a passion for reading in the hearts and minds of our youngest citizens!

At Global Samaritan Resources, we want to make sure that access to books is something that every child, inspired by CALF or just determined to master reading, has on a regular basis. Yesterday, we had a great morning at our Community Book Room, sponsored by Atmos Energy! Our parking lot was packed full of cars and our Book Room was busy! We had a great crowd and together, they took home 1,630 FREE books to enjoy!

Our Community Book Room is run by our amazing volunteers who spend HOURS every month processing new books into the Book Room and keeping the space clean and ready for our guests. These ladies are amazing and are members of Southern Hills Church of Christ. Thank you ladies for your hard work to make this possible!

It's summer! The kids are home. Roadtrips are planned. Summer camp and vacation are happening. All of these events provide us with lots of opportunities to spend time reading!

Our Community Book Room, sponsored by Atmos Energy and hosted by Global Samaritan Resources, is kicking off our summer schedule and we wanted to let you know that starting tomorrow, June 3rd, we will be open EVERY WEDNESDAY MORNING from 9:00 to Noon.

If you have never been to the Community Book Room, come check us out! We guarantee that we have a book for everyone. With close to 50,000 books on the shelves, you WILL find something of interest. For kids, we have picture books, junior readers, kids chapter books, etc. For teens and adults who love to read, we have a huge selection of fiction, history, science, theology, cookbooks, self help books and more! So, come check us out and see what it is all about.

And the best part...all books are FREE to take and keep! They are yours to enjoy!

Grateful to have the Student Ministry from Southern Hills Church of Christ come and serve with us this morning!

Last year, these kids dedicated a couple of months of their children’s offering to benefit Global Samaritan Resources and this year they came to volunteer for the second time. They sorted lots of new resources for our Teacher Resource Room that will be in late July.

Building relationships is important. Sharing our mission with the next generation is also important as they will be the donors, board members and leaders of Global Samaritan and other non-profits in the future.
