We’re excited to announce this year’s Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway!

When:
Saturday, November 22nd
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Where:
Former Green Ford Building
2104 N. Buckeye Ave
Abilene, KS 67410

Requirements:
First come, first served — no time slot signup required.
Please bring either a current-year free/reduced lunch form from a school within Dickinson County or a Medicaid card if your child is not yet school-aged.

We’ve purchased enough food to assist 60 families, each receiving a full Thanksgiving meal and a $30 meat certificate to a local establishment. Families beyond the first 60 will still be served as resources allow.

We’re asking for community support through donations of meat certificates to help us serve even more families this Thanksgiving. If you or your business would like to contribute, please contact us — every donation directly helps a local family in need.

Thank you to the family of Michelle Brown for their recent donation! Her girls recently held a lemonade and baked goods sale that was able to raise over $200 to support the continued mission of Kids In Crisis.

2025 June DeWeese Back to School Drive Recap

We’re thrilled to share that this year’s event was a huge success! Thanks to the incredible support of our community, Kids in Crisis was able to help 269 children and 114 families in Dickinson County get ready for the new school year by providing each child with a new backpack and $50 school supply voucher. This was a 64% increase from last year when we helped 164 kids.

A special shoutout to Great Plains Manufacturing and their amazing employees for going above and beyond by raising over $1,400 to support this event. Your generosity made a big difference!

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and helped spread the word. Because of you, these kids are starting the school year with the supplies they need to succeed.

2025 June DeWeese Back to School Drive

Join us for the 2025 June DeWeese Back to School Drive on Saturday, July 26th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at:

First United Methodist Church

601 N Cedar St

Abilene, KS 67410

Please follow the signs into the basement.

What’s Provided:

One free backpack and a $50 school supply voucher per student to Lumber House in Abilene.

Requirements:

You must present a current school year free or reduced lunch form (physical or digital). This documentation is required to receive assistance—no exceptions.

Please Note:
Contact your local school district ahead of time to obtain the free or reduced lunch form. We will not be able to distribute supplies without it.

Be on the lookout for an email if you have attended this event in the past. Please spread the word to others who are eligible!

🌞 Summer Pool Pass Support from Kids In Crisis! 🏊‍♀️💙

We’re excited to announce that Kids In Crisis is once again running our Summer Pool Pass Event this year!

If your family qualifies for free or reduced lunch, lives in Dickinson County, and you're among the first 30 families to apply, we’re able to contribute $100 toward the cost of your family pool pass.

To take advantage of this opportunity:

Families in Abilene: Bring your free/reduced lunch form to the Abilene Community Center first. You will then purchase your pass at the pool.

Families outside of Abilene: Contact us directly at 785-280-9709 for instructions.
