Just a heads up the that the Main Library downtown will close to the public this Friday, April 10 at 6:00PM as we prepare to move to our new home at Abilene Heritage Square.

Introducing the Director of Spark Science Center, Marsha Hammack!

Marsha has spent the past two years working on the project’s development, as well as introducing STEAM programming at The Grace. She retired two years ago with 35+ years in public and private education, most recently working as an elementary curriculum coach with an emphasis on Science and Language Arts. Her primary role as Director is to develop and implement programs and exhibits aligned to educational standards and tailored to diverse age groups – from younger visitors exploring basic scientific concepts through discovery play to elementary and secondary students engaging in experiments, engineering challenges, and real-world problem solving.

Spark Science Center is a NEW, secondary location of The Grace Museum. Spark is located on the Abilene Heritage Square campus and will serve as a new, interactive, exhibit space with a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) focus and experiences for all ages.

Join us at The Grace Museum for a FREE group art collaboration with glass artist, Carlyn Ray! Help decorate ribbons of glass that will used in a permanent sculpture at the new Abilene Public Library Main Branch – opening next May at Abilene Heritage Square!⁠

Sign up to attend one of two special classes led by Carlyn Ray on October 24. Carlyn will guide community members to create unique color designs that she will later turn into glass ribbons.⁠

Abilene Gives was a huge success! We passed our goal of $10k and raised $16,390 this year! We are so grateful for such a generous and supportive community. Thank you to everyone who donated and to Community Foundation Abilene for putting on the event. We can't wait to open in just one more year!
