We are a group of friends and family in Abilene, Texas that want the best for the animals that are in our local shelters. These wonderful pets are rescued, loved, vetted, and happy. We learn about the personalities, their likes/dislikes so that we can find them a "forever home". We want them to be in a home that is best suited for them. We encourage that adopters study the breed they are intereste

d in, look up the websites, check out books on the breed to make sure they can know as much as possible about the particular breed. We want to make sure that every pet is a perfect match for their new home. All of our pets are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. When adopting a new friend, it is an important decision. We at Pawed Squad want this to be a lifelong commitment. Animals are not disposable, they are our friends and deserve to be given the love they deserve. So many of these pets come from shelters and rescued by our group. These pets are seen by a vet, live in our homes so that we get to know them so that we can find the best placement for them. These wonderful animals deserve the very best. We are not a shelter, we don't have a facility, we have these pets in foster homes so that we can give them the love they need and deserve. We get to know these sweet babies and we put a lot of love into them. We represent the pet to the best of our ability, they are rescue dogs and we don't always get their history. We at Pawed Squad do the best we can to match the pets with the right home. 2020 has been a tough year for pawed squad due to illness that hit me (Sheila) on January 4th. We have not been able to do adoptions. Unable to rescue from our shelter.

Our shelter has made wonderful progress this year by becoming a no kill shelter that also has a vet on staff to care for the ill ones we used to rush to save.

I am currently in the hospital for a long stay, battling Covid complications. Even with all the precautions, it still happened.

We won’t be doing fund raisers this year and feel like this may be Gods way of telling us we did the work he needed and the dream for no kill shelter in Abilene finally came true.

We love every dog, remember and smile about every adoption.

Please send us pictures of the dogs you adopted, as I sit here in hospital bed I want to smile and see happy faces!

I will survive this, God is my strength! Thank you for all the support over the years.

July 4th is a terrifying time for pets! Pet Releaf oil or treats works for our foster dogs! It has CBD oil and it really works wonders for fireworks and thunderstorms! They do not get "high", they are not zoned out, they are calm and normal. We are not promising it will work for all dogs but it has worked for our personal pets and foster dogs. Petco has it available instore.

Sunny the Cockapoo is getting groomed today - thanks for your help!! She is a silly dog that needs a very active home that will appreciate her flair for fun! Yesterday she was standing in a bird bath! I don't think she fooled any birds into thinking she was a statue!

Hello!! It's been a while since we posted and wanted to update all of our Pawed Squad friends! In January I ended up in the hospital with kidney infection and learned I was diabetic. In February, I was back in hospital and kidney infection was not better. Ended up in ER again in February and by March I had surgery with another surgery scheduled for April 6. Due to Covid-19, second surgery has been postponed until hospitals open back up. I am unable to travel or drive and spend most of my time sitting on sofa surrounded by wonderful foster dogs!

Due to Covid-19, my health, and the health of another foster we have put adoptions on hold. The local animal shelter that we rescue from is also closed. The dogs in our care are doing great and in foster care until they are adopted! The only problem is with no adoptions, we don't have any fees and we are running out of funds to buy dog food and get dogs groomed!
