Rusty the zoo dog, was found and rescued by Clint Chipman in Abilene tx in 2020 along with several other dogs that had been deemed feral upon capture behind the Abilene zoo. Rusty and his family were adopted by very devoted people with a mission to help these animals that had never had a home. Clint was patient with Rusty and got him some friends to help the transition from living in the streets to sleeping on carpet in the house, he never showed aggression towards other dogs or the pig. it took months to get Rusty in the house and once he was there you can see by the doggy smiles that he was happy to be loved and safe and fed by a loving hand, as with any animal there were plenty of shenanigans along the way. But that never stopped Clint from loving Rusty to the fullest and making sure he was fixed and up to date with shots and healthy. As with most male dogs Rusty liked to get out of the yard i think he made it a game for a while to see how many ways he could escape one yard. Clint had his hands full with Rusty and his buddies getting out and taking a turn around the neighborhood causing trouble as they go. A few chickens were bought and paid for by Rusty and his friends, but Clint was not detered from his misson of saving Rusty, when Clint moved homes with his family the dogs had a hard time adjusting, Rusty and his friend escaped the yard and went on the run for a few weeks, when animal control finally caught up with him he was then transported to the animal shelter for safe keeping until Clint could arrive at the shelter to claim his dog, as soon as he heard Rusty was there he went and saw Rusty in the shelter and to tell them that this was his dog and he would be back to get him the next day with a crate and meds to help transport him safely, the very next day when he arrived at the Abilene animal shelter he was told by a VERY rude woman who was very unsympathetic towards Clint and his situation that Rusty had been euthanized due to an outbreak illness in the shelter and that he was being aggressive and refused to take the meds or be given a shot so they put him down in less than 24 hours after Clint had seen him healthy and happy to see him. Rusty didnt have to die, nobody knows what happened or who told who to put him down but its wrong to kill a dog when the owner is coming to get them, this isnt the first time the Abilene Animal shelter has put down a wanted dog, a dog with a owner, a lost dog that had a loving home.
