All it takes is adopting this absolutely wonderful girl and adding a whole lot of Bonita energy to your life. ❤️

At around 3 years old, Bonita has already proven herself to be one of the sweetest dogs around. She came to us with six adorable puppies and was the very best mama a pup could ask for. Even now, her nurturing spirit shines through every day.

In playgroup, Bonita is a total rockstar. She has served as a greeter, helper, and all-around calming presence for dogs of all personalities and play styles. Whether she's welcoming a new friend or helping other pups feel comfortable, she does it with patience and grace.

And people? Bonita LOVES people. She soaks up attention whenever she can and is always happy to spend time with her favorite humans. Plus, her goofy ears have a personality all their own and are guaranteed to make you smile.

At around 3 years old, Almond is already neutered and ready to head home with his forever family. With his gorgeous brown coat and gentle personality, he's the kind of dog that wins hearts wherever he goes.

Almond is fantastic with other dogs of all play styles and sizes. Whether your pup loves to wrestle, play chase, or simply hang out, Almond is happy to make a new friend. And when it comes to people? This boy loves his humans with his whole heart.

Recently, we had a professional behaviorist spend time with our dog team, and Almond quickly became one of his favorite dogs in the shelter. That's not something we were surprised by—everyone who meets Almond seems to fall in love with him!

🌟 PARC Pet of the Week: Lola 🌟

If you've stopped by recently, you may have noticed something new in our lobby! Our PARC Pet of the Week board is now up and proudly displayed, hopefully becoming one of the first things visitors see when they walk through our doors looking for a new best friend.

Why? Because we're doing everything we can to make sure our long-stay pets don't continue to be overlooked.

And our very first PARC Pet of the Week is... Lola! 🖤

At this point, we honestly don't know what else to say to convince people how amazing she is. We've posted her. We've shared her story. We've told everyone how wonderful she is. And somehow, she's still waiting.

Recently, Lola got to spend a weekend on a sleepover with a foster family, and she absolutely thrived. Unfortunately, the weekend had to come to an end, and Lola returned to the shelter.

Her foster shared:
"Lola is truly amazing! She was so good the entire time she was with us and proved to be an incredibly sweet girl. She did fantastic adjusting to our home environment and got along wonderfully with us and both our older dog and new puppy!"

Seriously... how is this girl still here?!

Lola is spayed, her adoption fee has been sponsored, she's potty trained, great with dogs, good with kids, and has been patiently waiting for a family since February. She's currently on our urgent list due to her length of stay, and she is more than ready to leave shelter life behind.

If you stop by looking for a new companion and need a recommendation from our staff, we almost always have one. And until Lola gets adopted, there's about a 90% chance that recommendation is going to be Lola. 😅 Come meet her. Read her PARC Pet of the Week board. Spend a few minutes with her.

Meet Basil 🖤

Basil is one of our longest stay dogs, and honestly… we can’t understand why.

He first arrived back in February as a stray — no owner searching for him, no story, no one coming to reclaim him. But the thing is, Basil had a family somewhere at some point. You can tell by the way he watches people, the way he wants to trust, and the way his tail starts wagging once he realizes he’s safe.

Now, we’re hoping someone gives Basil the chance to have that again.

Basil is a handsome brindle Mountain Cur mix with a loyal, gentle personality. Shelter life has been overwhelming for him, and he can be pretty shy at first, but underneath that nervousness is a really sweet dog who just wants a chance to settle in and feel loved again.

He gets along great with other dogs and seems to really enjoy having canine friends around. The person who originally found Basil said he did wonderfully with their kiddos too! He recently went on a Doggy Day Out, and while he started off a little nervous, it didn’t take long before the tail wags started showing up. ❤️

Basil is smart, attentive, and would love a home where he can finally exhale — whether that means joining in on adventures or just relaxing with his people after a long day. He is 3 years old, already neutered, up to date on all vaccines, and his adoption fee has been FULLY SPONSORED.

Basil is currently on our urgent list due to his length of stay and lack of interest. He has spent months watching other dogs leave while he stays behind, getting quieter and more shut down with each passing week.

There is truly no reason not to give this sweet boy the chance of a lifetime. What Basil wants more than anything is simple:
A family.
A home.

✨ Foster Friday Spotlight: Sombra ✨

This week, we’re shining a light on one of the gentlest souls we’ve ever met — sweet Sombra. 🖤

Sombra came to us as an owner surrender back in March, and shelter life was incredibly hard on him. Nervous, shut down, and overwhelmed, he spent much of his time quietly observing the world around him with those soft, soulful eyes.

True to his name, Sombra tends to linger quietly in the background at first. He’s humble, tender-hearted, and wonderfully low-key - honestly, he reminds us so much of a real-life Eeyore. The kind of dog who doesn’t demand attention, but absolutely deserves to be cherished.

He is about 2 years old, already nuetered and up to date on all vaccines. He loves chin scratches, gives the sweetest still-and-steady hugs, and patiently waits for someone kind enough to notice just how special he is.

Sombra also does really well with other dogs! He’s just not the rowdy, playful type. He’s more of a wallflower or “puppy watcher” — happy to quietly hang out nearby and observe the fun rather than be the center of attention. 🖤

And lately? We’ve started seeing little glimpses of Sombra truly coming to life. ❤️

Since going into foster care, he’s been slowly opening up and gaining confidence more and more each day. His foster shared:
“He seems to be doing better. He’s even had maybe 2 or 3 random zoomies, but overall he pretty much just sleeps, then eats. And he is VERY passionate about his food and treats. A treat can get a lot out of this boy.” 😅

Sometimes it’s the quiet victories that mean the most — a tail wag, a zoomie, choosing to come closer instead of pulling away. And Sombra is finally starting to feel safe enough to have those moments.

What he needs now is a steady, patient, loving home where he can continue building confidence at his own pace.
