Spectrum Connection mission is to partner with community entities to provide services and support for those with Autism that may not otherwise get the opportunity.

We're Back! After a short break over the Summer for our Board to rejuvenate, Big Country Spectrum Connection is back. If you have recently contacted us and have been waiting for a response, we will be in touch soon.

Additionally, we will be putting together an impact survey in the near future to ensure that we are still supporting our community in the best way possible. Please keep your eyes and ears open for that survey as your information will be very valuable.

Your son or in this case, his brother, going for something as simple as a haircut, walking in, giving his name, getting the haircut, and paying, all by himself, is something every single parent wants to and expects to be able to do. Most parents experience it with little fear, but for parents of autistic individuals or any special needs, it may take years to build the skills to be able to see this, if ever. I know many of you understand what this brother was feeling as went through this.

Hello,

My name is Kristy Delony and I am the senior research associate for a new research study called Raising Texas Voices. Texas needs to hear from people with disabilities and their families. Raising Texas Voices is a study funded by the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities to explore generational differences in the hopes and priorities of people with developmental disabilities and their families. We are launching a statewide research study unlike traditional surveys, centered on your real experiences and priorities, led by the Baylor Center for Disability and Flourishing. Your voice is needed to help strengthen the programs, resources, and supports that shape the lives of the disability community across Texas. 💙 Community Kindness in Action 💙

We are so grateful to everyone who submitted nominations for our recent sensory chair giveaway. Reading your stories was both humbling and deeply meaningful. Thank you for trusting Big Country Spectrum Connection with pieces of your journeys, your families, and your hearts.

A recipient family has been selected, and the chair has officially been gifted. To protect the family’s privacy and honor their story, we will not be sharing identifying details, but we are incredibly thankful to have been part of bringing this special item into a home where it can provide comfort, support, and joy.

We also want to give a heartfelt thank you to the generous family who donated the chair and made this opportunity possible in the first place. Your kindness created a ripple effect far beyond a single gift. 🌱

One thing this experience reminded us is how many families in our community are carrying unseen challenges while doing their very best every day. The level of compassion shown through the nominations was truly powerful.
