This was a tough decision but I had no choice

Gentleman,

It is unfortunate, that I must inform you, that I’m resigning my responsibility with the committee to rebuild Abernant fire. I will however be available to assist you with any questions. I must also extend a big thank you to Brookwood Fire dept, Lakeview Fire, and Coaling Fire, especially Fire Chief Garner for his display of professionalism and support beyond the call during my recent fire . I remain truly appreciative to the Association and Forest Commission for their help in the process to dissolve the inactive Abernant Fire District Board.

There is a meeting tonight of the Tuscaloosa firefighters ... I’ll be attending if you want to go look me up ... I’ll report back here as to where we stand with dissolving the old board

....the Tuscaloosa county volunteer fire fighters association will be assisting in removing the inactive fire district board ...I'll be deleting this page and starting a new page .... it'll be called Abernant Community News ... if your interested in hearing all the latest news about our coming soon Fire Department and other info please join I'll make it a public page so all you have to do is search It and join .... I'll leave this page up til all our neighbors can can catch up ... also we need to start talking about who our next fire chief and firefighters will be let's start our conversation on the new page .... ... back last yr I was asked to attend a meeting concerning the town of Abernant... we had a inactive fire district board ( no fire protection) ... as you folks well know without a fire department home owners insurance can get rather expensive.... well with a class 10 rating it became a matter that most home owners could not afford up to an additional 250.00 per month added to each mortgage... long story short I'd like to send a special thanks to Senator Gerald Allen ....legislation was introduced and successfully passed to allow every fire association the ability to inspect and if need be dissolve boards that are non responsive to the communities needs
Abernant was in a no win position till Mr Allen heard our voices and he responded

One last time .........comment if you will vote to either dissolve old board or vote in a fire (department) .... Ive receive so many calls concerning increases in HOI it's incredible! ..... need to see 100 comments minimum.... there are 1105 ppl in this group .... it's up to you !

To whom it may concern we are having another meeting for the Abernant Fire department on February 13th at 2:00 pm the location is going to be at the union hall on the corner of Hwy 216 and Alabama Junction.Please plan to attend this meeting your homeowners insurance depends on it.

All right my Abernant Community it is time to take a stand. We need everyone to contact the Tuscaloosa County Commissions office and let them know how we feel about the closing of our Fire District. Please take a stand we need everyone.
