Our mission is to assist the children of veterans, active military personnel, and the children of families who don't have the resources for their children to follow their artistic dreams. We believe in taking action with urgency to provide veterans and their families in need wi

th a hand up to get through difficult times, whatever their personal need may be. Please join us by supporting our programs that are bound to make a measurable difference in the lives of others. A Stroke of Patriotism has assisted more than 60 veterans and their families in many different ways. including supporting special needs children in therapeutic horse riding, repairing air conditioning units, paying utility bills, repairing vehicles, assisting veterans impacted by severe weather, adopting families over Christmas and much more.

General information

A Stroke of Patriotism is proud of the willingness of the Sandhills community to support our veterans and their families in times of need. We are equally proud to have assisted more than 60 veterans and their families. The needs are many and each application is reviewed to ensure that the veteran receiving assistance has been honorably discharged and is truly in need of assistance. In all cases, a personal interview is conducted. No payments are made to the veterans -- the money goes directly to the holder of the debt or service provider.

Our Story

A Stroke of Patriotism, an independent 501(c)(3) organization, is staffed entirely by volunteers. Our focus is on supporting our military veterans and their families in times of need. To date, A Stroke of Patriotism has assisted over 60 families. We have sponsored special needs children in therapeutic horse riding, repaired air conditioning units, paid utility bills, repaired vehicles, assisted veterans impacted by severe weather, adopted families over Christmas and much more. "The Sandhills community is very giving and proud of the contribution they make to helping these families in times of need. ​

In addition to support from across the community, A Stroke of Patriotism has a special bond with many local artists who have graciously donated artwork to support our fundraising efforts.
