Happy Saturday Shelter Friends! Exciting things happening today at the AAHS!

We will be opening the kennels for walk-thrus again today from 1-4pm. Come meet your new BBF!

Additionally, we will be having a puppy party! These 6 pittie mix puppies are ready for adoption. The pups will be hanging out in our Small Meet and Greet Room from 1-4pm and would love to have some visitors and maybe their new homes!!
Our puppies are loud and they are not house-trained at this time. They are very sweet, but they do jump up with sharp puppy claws and they do nibble with puppy teeth. We suggest long pants and close toed shoes if you're coming to visit them!! See you later this afternoon!

Wishlist Wednesday!!

This week, the shelter needs the usual: clumping cat litter, Purina dog chow, wet kitten food and dog training treats primarily.
..and Miss Luna needs a fur-ever home where she can stay home instead of working an 8-5 with her foster!

Luna is a 4-year-old boxer mix with a personality bigger than she is. Despite her foster's joking claims to the contrary, Miss Luna is actually a very well behaved little girl; she is potty trained (with a schedule) and knows a myriad of commands, tricks and phrases! She is a little awkward when meeting anyone or anything new, but Luna does well with children, cats and dogs smaller than her. She could live with a dog bigger than herself, but it would take some patience.

"Why is such an amazing dog still at the shelter?" you might be asking yourself. In all honesty, none of us know. She's absolutely adorable (if a little goofy looking sometime), smart as heck and extremely loyal to whoever she claims as hers. Sure, she can be a bit of a talker. And she has a hard time getting used to a new routine... And she really dislikes being away from her people...
But don't we all have our quirks? Please give her a chance and let her retire from her 8-5 at the shelter!!!

Happy Saturday from Louis!! He has a couple of very important announcements!

1. Cats are still donation based adoption fees. Approved adopters can pay any monetary amount or bring supplies like clumping cat litter, wet kitten food, Purina Dog or Cat Chow in lieu of a monetary fee. Come find your new best friend!!

2. Starting today(8/29/2026), from 1pm to 4pm, we will be trial opening our Dog Adoption Floor to allow visitors to walk through the kennels. This is a big change and we are hopeful that it will be a smooth transition. Currently, this will only be for Saturday afternoons. Our dogs are very excited to see visitors!!

Louis is a 10 month old mixed breed pup. He needs some help with house training and confidence, but he does will with adults, children, other dogs and cats!

Meet Nellie!
She is a pure bread Lab who was born on 7-5-25.
She is fully vaccinated through Northern Plains Animal Health and has already been spayed.
She is house broke and very well behaved!
She is on the petite side of a lab- she weighs about 37lbs
She's good with dogs, cats and kids!
