The NSU Alumni Association Summer Series "Where Are They Now?" provides a platform to showcase the remarkable accomplishments and inspiring journeys of our alumni.

Nicholas Hoyme graduated from Northern State University in 2016. Since graduation, he has worked for both Sanford and Avera in Sioux Falls before making the move to Tucson, Arizona, where he currently serves as a Patient Dining Associate at Northwest Hospital. Nick is actively involved in his church community, singing in the choir and serving as a member-at-large on the church council.

Continuing to pursue his passion for music and helping others, Nick returned to school and is currently working toward a bachelor's degree in Music Therapy at the University of Arizona, with plans to pursue a master's degree in the future.

When asked what advice he would give current NSU students, Nick shared, “Study hard, listen to your professors, but follow your passion.” His journey is a testament to the value of lifelong learning and staying true to your goals.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the alumni who shared their stories as part of the NSU Alumni Association’s summer series, Where Are They Now? Your experiences help showcase the many unique and inspiring paths taken by NSU graduates. By sharing your journeys, you have strengthened connections within our community and provided valuable insight and encouragement for current students and fellow alumni. Thank you for helping celebrate the lasting impact of an NSU education.

We’re excited to launch the this summer's series by featuring Katie Sinner-Pulscher. Katie Sinner-Pulscher graduated from Northern State University in 2020 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and again in 2022 with a Master's degree in Special Education, becoming Northern's first graduate of the Master's in Special Education program. Today, she serves as a Middle School Special Education Teacher in Milbank, South Dakota, and is continuing her education at Northern while pursuing her Principal and Building Leadership Graduate Certificate.

When asked what advice she would give current NSU students, Katie shared, “Work hard and take advantage of the support your professors offer. They'll continue to be valuable resources long after graduation.” She credits the mentorship and relationships she built at Northern as an important part of her continued success.
