Luke's Cancer Institute in the Don and Carmen Meyer Center of Excellence. See "About" for more details. Hello, my name is Trey Bourelle and I founded TTC during my sophomore year of high school in 2020. Tackle The Cure originated for a football game at Northwestern Area High School in Mellette, South Dakota. The event headlined as a way to raise money for a local cause which has affected many live
s around the world and in our communities. I installed the help of friends, family, and teammates the next year in 2021 to start our first year in gathering donations. We have used silent auctions, business and personal donations, free will donation wristbands, signed jerseys, signed footballs, and apparel to raise money in the past 3 years. In 2021 we raised a little over $2,000. My senior year in 2022 I set the goal for $5,000. With the collaboration of Northwestern volleyball, we raised and donated over $11,000. We then followed up during 2023 with just shy of $7,000. All of the motive and drive for my effort comes from my grandmother who passed away in 2016 with metastatic breast cancer. She was a gift from God and changed my world with her livelihood just as much as her passing. She was a patient at Avera St. Luke's in Aberdeen, SD where she would receive treatments. I have vowed to give back and make a difference where it is needed. Instead of sending money to big corporations and labs where patients hardly see any money or help, we send all of our proceeds straight back to the Cancer Institute in the Don and Carmen Meyer Center of Excellence in Aberdeen for the patients' direct use. That may look like help with mammograms, transportation, visitation stay, chemotherapy recliners, heated blankets, etc. I personally want to see patients live a better situation and life with the help of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and the donations we raise.
