The Tate Jackson (TJ) Northey Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2018 in memory of our precious son. TJ Northey gained his heavenly wings on May 23, 2018, at the age of 8. Our forever eight-year-old continues to teach us about life as his precious memories guide us each day. TJ lived big and loved bigger. His love and joy for life were contagious. He always found a way to have fun and live that moment the biggest way possible. TJ taught us how to live big, how to experience the world in a better and different way, and to truly enjoy each moment. TJ lived with love, with compassion, with goodness, with hope. We go on living for TJ’s memory. To remind others of his joy, compassion, love for life, gentleness, kindness, and of the most beautiful smile that always lit up a room. TJ continues to inspire us every day and he will always be our treasure. The annual scholarship was founded to keep TJ’s memory and sweet spirit alive through providing assistance to deserving, joyful students following their dreams of attending college.
Eligibility Criteria
• Students enrolled full-time as a high school senior, progressing normally toward graduation in the Spring/Summer 2026, with plans to enter college no later than the Fall following graduation
• A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 for graduating high school seniors
• Be a resident of or attend high school in one of the following eight Alabama counties:
• Henry, Houston, Pike, Coffee, Covington, Dale, Barbour, Geneva
• TJ Northey Memorial scholars are students who continually bring joy to others while exhibiting academic excellence, leadership skills and community involvement and who have a demonstrated financial need in order to attend college. They must demonstrate their desire and ability to bring joy to others whether it is through school interaction, club involvement, volunteerism, work involvement or extracurricular activities.
