Abbeville County Historical Society Founded in 1957, Abbeville County Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to preser J.D. Bundy, of Monroe, North Carolina, in 1989.

Founded in 1957, the Abbeville County Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation of materials and architecture that have historical significance to Abbeville County. The mission of the Abbeville County Historical Society is to share all that is preserved with Abbeville County residents and County visitors for the present and future. The current focus of the Society is to continue it’s eff

orts of preservation and restoration of the McGowan-Barksdale-Bundy House, which serves as the Abbeville County Historical Society’s Headquarters. The house, a true architectural treasure, was graciously deeded to the Society by Mr.

The McGowan House will be open today from 11-2 for anyone wanting to see some of the completed renovations to the house and those areas under renovations.

The Railroad Museum on the lower level will be open for tours today from 11-2 as well.

Parking is in the rear of the house off Ellis Street. Turn under the First Baptist breezeway and park anywhere on the lawn around the 4 cabins.
