As the community Medical Doctor, over the past couple of weeks, I have seen malaria cases rise sharply.

Almost every day now, someone comes with a child burning with fever. The rains have left water standing everywhere, and mosquitoes are increasing fast. Many homes have no mosquito nets—not because people don’t want them, but because they simply cannot afford them.

When a child falls sick, some families delay coming—not out of neglect, but because they don’t have the money for treatment or transport. So they wait, hoping the fever will pass.

By the time they reach me, some children are already weak—what could have been prevented has become urgent.

I don’t work full-time in a hospital, but in this community, people come to me—because they know I will try to help.

Malaria is preventable. Malaria is treatable.
But this is not a small problem in Uganda. Each year, millions of cases are recorded, and thousands of lives are lost—most of them young children. Many more cases never even reach official records.

But right now, many families have neither protection nor medicine.

We are responding urgently through preventative (buying of mosquito nets) and curative (purchase of antimalarials) means!

Each mosquito net costs — $12
Each anti-Malaria treatments costs— $5
