We facilitated a conflict resolution dialogue with youth from the Nuer community in Cluster 1, Zone 1, Bidibidi Refugee Settlement.

For the past two weeks, the youth had been in conflict stemming from a misunderstanding on the football pitch, which escalated to their homes and forced some to spend nights in nearby bushes.

The dialogue brought together OPM, DRC, Police, and Afri-Youth Network. Calm has now been restored among the youth. They were counseled on peaceful coexistence and warned that authorities will take legal action against anyone who continues to perpetrate violence.

During the visit, he shared some amazing moments with the children, engaging with them, learning from their experiences, and witnessing the positive impact of sports and mentorship in their lives.

Today, we held a constructive dialogue with the youth to address and resolve the dispute that interrupted our tournament final. Following consultations with relevant authorities and continued engagement with the young people involved, we were able to reach a common understanding and agree on a peaceful and acceptable way forward.

The dialogue provided an opportunity for both team leaders to express their concerns, listen to one another, and work together toward a solution. We believe that open communication, mutual respect, and understanding are essential in promoting peaceful coexistence and strengthening unity within our community.

Together, we choose dialogue over division and peace over conflict. 🤝🏾🕊️

Today, we had the opportunity to meet with different partners across Bidibidi 1, 2, and 3 as part of the partner assessment exercise under an assignment given to us by UNHCR Uganda. It was an amazing and insightful experience, connecting with colleagues and visiting their various offices. We truly appreciated the warm reception, meaningful engagements, and the opportunity to learn more about the incredible work being done across the different zones.

Much appreciation to UNHCR for entrusting us to carry out this amazing exercise.
