Nakawuka Educational Development Association (NEDEA) is a non-government organisation based in Wakiso district, Ssisa sub county, Nakawuka parish of Uganda. It was founded in 2001 as a community initiative under the patronage of Mr. Wasswa John Bosco and Mr. Strating as a CBO (Community Based Organisation) during the highly spread HIV that claimed a lot od lives causing orphanage. tially focused on hygiene and health with in close collaboration with the local population and local leaders. NEDEA Uganda became aware of other community challenges, which include high HIV/AIDs infections, drug abuse, prostitution, illeteracy and domestic violence including maginalisation of the people with disabilities. Due to such challenges Twinlight Children Centre was started by NEDEA Uganda so as to support the vulnerable and orphan polulation through education support amd youth through skill attainment. NEDEA Uganda also gave trainings of business management and agriculture skills for the community. Some domestic animals were given to the community by NEDEA Uganda. In 2001, NEDEA Uganda was renting a place not very far from the town where the project was running. Later in 2003, together with the community, the organisation managed to buy one arcer of land where NEDEA Uganda built its office and Twinlight Children's Centre and boarding section. After that, NEDEA Uganda made worker camps with the community to produce blocks which were used to build those structures. In 2005, NEDEA Uganda was officially registered as an NGO and expanded its activities according to the needs assesment carried out earlier. This putting its focus on the vulnerable children and youth within the community most of whom are orphans and school drop outs.
