Youth are transforming agriculture like never before
This year, the number of young people joining the agriculture and agrifood system is rising and it’s shaping the future of food and farming.
The facts say it all:
There are about 1.3 billion youth (15–24 years) globally.
Nearly 44% of working youth are employed in agrifood systems more than adults at 38%!
Youth inclusion in agriculture could boost the global economy by $1.5 trillion, with almost half of that growth coming from agrifood systems.
Around 85% of youth live in low- and middle-income countries where agriculture remains a key livelihood.
The new generation of farmers are not only growing crops they are building agribusinesses, driving innovation, and bringing technology into the fields.
From digital farming to smart irrigation and agripreneurship, young people are making agriculture more productive, sustainable, and profitable.
Youth are now the engine of change in the agrifood system turning farming into a modern, job-creating sector that feeds nations and fuels economies.
Let’s keep empowering youth with access to land, finance, skills, and markets because the future of food depends on them.
