🔍 DID YOU KNOW?

For many girls, a period is more than just a few days of discomfort. It can mean missing school, avoiding social activities, and experiencing anxiety, embarrassment, or isolation simply because menstrual products are out of reach.

Menstrual health is more than a health issue—it is a matter of dignity, equality, and opportunity. No girl should have to choose between her education and managing her period.

Through our campaign, we are working to break barriers, challenge stigma, and ensure that every girl and young mother can manage her period safely, confidently, and with dignity. This aligns with our commitment to improving access to healthcare information, promoting dignity, and advocating for the well-being of vulnerable girls and teenage mothers.

Together, we can create a world where no girl is left behind because of her period.

There are moments that say more than words ever could.

As sanitary pads filled the air and smiles lit up every face, this was more than a distribution—it was a celebration of dignity, confidence, and hope. Each pack represented a girl who can stay in school, participate with confidence, and manage her period with greater comfort and dignity.

Through our Menstrual Hygiene Day outreach, we not only shared menstrual health knowledge but also took practical action to support girls with the products they need. Together, we are breaking stigma, ending period poverty, and creating a future where every girl has the opportunity to thrive.

Because every girl deserves dignity. Every month.

A packet of sanitary pads may seem small, but for many girls, it represents confidence, dignity, and the ability to stay focused in school without fear or interruption.

During our Menstrual Hygiene Day outreach, we combined education with action—equipping girls with practical knowledge on menstrual hygiene while also providing sanitary pads to support their menstrual health needs. Every conversation held and every pad distributed was a step toward a future where no girl is held back by her period.

Together, we are building a where every girl has the support, information, and dignity she deserves.

Building a period-friendly world requires all of us.
Families must create safe spaces for open and supportive conversations. Schools must provide menstrual education, clean toilets, water, soap, privacy, and safe disposal options. Health workers must share accurate, respectful, and age-appropriate information. Communities must challenge the shame, myths, and harmful beliefs that continue to silence girls and women. At Young Wombs Trauma Centre, we believe menstrual health is not only about pads. It is about dignity, education, confidence, safety, and equal opportunity. When girls and teenage mothers can manage their periods with dignity, they are better able to stay in school, participate in community life, protect their health, and pursue their dreams. We call on leaders, donors, partners, and institutions to continue investing in menstrual products, water and sanitation facilities, school-based education, and dignity-centred programmes that leave no girl behind. As we marked on May 28 at Ngariet Junior School we joined the global call for a , a world where stigma and taboo are history, and where everyone can access period products, menstrual education, menstrual health services, and period-friendly infrastructure

For many girls, a period is more than a monthly experience—it can be a source of anxiety, misinformation, stigma, and missed opportunities. Yet something as natural as menstruation should never stand in the way of a girl's confidence, education, or future.

During our Menstrual Hygiene Day outreach, we created a safe space for girls and teenage mothers to learn, ask questions, and have honest conversations about menstrual health. Through practical demonstrations and interactive discussions, participants gained valuable knowledge on menstrual hygiene, safe practices, and menstrual dignity.

Knowledge is power, and every conversation matters. By equipping girls with accurate information and the confidence to manage their periods safely, we are helping build a future where no girl is held back by her period, ashamed of her body, or denied the opportunity to thrive.

Together, we continue working towards a where every girl has access to the information, support, and dignity she deserves.

As we commemorate Menstrual Hygiene Day, we join the call for a — a world where menstruation is not surrounded by shame and where every girl has access to dignity, information, and support.

As part of this advocacy and outreach engagement, a menstrual health specialist will speak to girls and teenage mothers about menstrual hygiene, breaking stigma, safe practices, and the importance of open conversations around periods. Through education and community support, we continue empowering girls with the confidence and knowledge they need to thrive.

Together, we can break the stigma, end period poverty, and build healthier futures for every girl.

As part of our commitment to creating safer and more inclusive digital spaces, Young Wombs Trauma Centre is proud to introduce HerSafeNet Project which is our holistic initiative designed to enhance the safety, rights, and socio-economic empowerment of teenage mothers in Uganda. The project responds to the growing risks and inequalities faced by vulnerable girls, both offline and online, by integrating digital innovation with healthcare, education, advocacy, and financial empowerment.

The project delivers community-based training, support services, and economic empowerment opportunities—ensuring that teenage mothers are not only protected, but also equipped to rebuild their lives.

By combining technology with human-centered support systems, we are creating safer digital spaces and stronger futures for teenage mothers.

Every meaningful solution begins with listening. At Young Wombs Trauma Centre, we have taken time to hear directly from teenage mothers about their experiences in digital spaces—the challenges they face, the risks they encounter, and the resilience they demonstrate every day.

Their voices have shaped something important. As we continue our countdown to Girls in ICT Day, we are preparing to introduce a solution designed with them and for them.
