Last night, I was at the orphanage and heard a quiet noise inside. In another room, there was a bit of noise a deep crying out to the Lord. When I went in, I was stunned to see the children gathered, heads bowed, crying, thanking Him for the support and provision they’ve receive each day . Though their words were in Luganda, I was deeply moved so grateful for their cries to God and for every donor and supporter who has been a blessing to them.

What an amazing day at African SKD Children's Home!

A few days ago, we shared that many of our children were in need of clothes. Today, thanks to the kindness and generosity of a wonderful supporter, we were able to purchase 2 bales of children's clothing- Thank you Margaret!

We are excited to share that all the children received clothes, and there were enough sizes for everyone. Seeing the children smile as they chose their clothes was a beautiful reminder of how much a simple act of kindness can mean.

To everyone who continues to stand with us, encourage us, pray for us, and support our mission—thank you. You are helping us show these children that they are loved, valued, and not forgotten.

May God bless you abundantly for making a difference in the lives of these children.

A meal may seem small, but to a child it brings comfort, strength, and hope. At African SKD Children's Home, every plate brings smiles and energy for the children to grow and thrive.
It costs just $14 per week to feed one child at our orphanage home. Your continued support helps us keep food on the table and care for them every day.

UPDATE

After our last post about the need for new shoes, we received a kind donation towards this need.

Today, all 35 children at the orphanage each received a new pair of shoes 🙏🏾 I went into town and purchased several pairs so that every child could be covered.

We are truly grateful for this support — it has made a real and immediate difference.

We are still continuing to work on other needs like clothing (shirts, shorts, and dresses) for the children. Any continued support is highly appreciated.

When we talk about the reality here, this is it: these children are not asking for a million dollars. For many of them, just $3 can provide a new pair of Crocs or shoes.

Most of the children need new shirts and shorts, and the girls would be so happy to have a new dress. These are simple things that many of us take for granted, but they mean so much to a child.

As you watch this video, you will notice that the children are still smiling. They have learned to smile through difficult circumstances and to find joy even when they have very little. Their smiles are beautiful, but they should not hide the reality of the challenges they face every day.

Please don’t look away or ignore them. Take a moment and imagine if this were your own child. Every child deserves to feel cared for, confident, and loved.

Your kindness, no matter how small, can make a real difference in a child’s life. Be kind!

This is a long post, but it is worth reading as it explains our current situation clearly.

We are currently caring for 35 children at the orphanage, and we are also responsible for animals (80 chickens and 4 dogs). The daily cost of food for both the children and animals is about $67 per day. This is a big responsibility, especially with very limited funds.

Right now, we receive about $800 per month total support from a few committed and faithful supporters, which is used for food and household items for the 35 children. Without this support, the children and animals would sadly struggle to have enough food.

We also have other important monthly and daily expenses, including:Two caretakers’ salary: $150 per monthPocket money for higher school children: $4 per day for 3 children, used for breakfast or small meals while at school since schools only provide lunch
•Caretakers prepare breakfast and pack food (porridge and other meals) every morning and deliver it to the children at school
•Sanitary supplies for girls
•Electricity bills
•Garbage collection
•Medical needs when children fall sick

These are not small costs, and many times they are not fully covered by our monthly support.

Because of this, we are often forced to adjust our food budget. At times, the children go from having three meals a day to only one meal a day. Some days, they may only have breakfast and no lunch or supper, or they may receive a simple meal like porridge without extra food or packed meals for school. This helps us stretch the limited funds to cover all urgent needs.

When funds are very low, I also use income from our taxi work to support the orphanage. In some cases, caretakers have to wait for their salaries, even though they also have families to support.

This situation also means we cannot save for new clothes or shoes for the children. And if a child gets sick, we must urgently look for emergency support to cover medical bills.

The reality is that children deserve three meals a day, proper care, clothing, and dignity, and even our animals need proper care. But with the current limited support, we are doing everything we can to survive day by day.

We are sharing this openly so you understand our real situation. If you are able to support in any way, it will directly help feed the children and animals and ease these daily challenges.

Thank you for standing with us.

The children and I built a simple rocket stove using cement and a bucket. It may not be perfect, but every new skill starts with practice. At African SKD Children's Home, we encourage children to discover new ideas, be creative, and learn how to solve problems. We hope to build an even better one in the future, practice makes perfect!
We are proud of their teamwork, curiosity, and willingness to learn.

Today was Martyrs' Day in Uganda, and since it was a public holiday, I spent my day with the children at the orphanage. It was a wonderful opportunity to share time together, play, talk, and simply enjoy each other's company. Moments like these show me how important it is for every child to feel loved, valued, and cared for.I am grateful for every supporter and friend who helps make it possible for us to continue caring for these amazing children.
