WHAT WE DO. we live in a fallen community, creation groans, the suffering of those in poverty is immense, and its not just physical poverty, its emotional poverty, spiritual poverty, relational poverty. our intentional work is focused in the poorest of communities. we cant not look away from the desperate need of the children and community we serve in. Meeting physical, emotional and educational needs completes the picture of holistic transformation. Sokolo foundation runs a football Academy called Sokolo football academy that has 90 registered players, 72 boys and 18 girls from ages 5-17. the soccer program aims at nurturing talents and availing opportunities for further and career development. our coaches do regular soccer trainings in the slums with academy and community children, we organize clinics , holiday camps and participate in tournaments. At every training session our coaches do offer mentorship lessons to players, therefore not only building soccer player but also developing a holistically transformed human. in a year our football team participates in over 30 tournaments around Uganda . Exposing our players to new people, schools and most importantly to new opportunities. EDUCATION. Its no secret that education is critically important path out of poverty for children in slums. We get to know our children as they are involved in our sports programs. we look at their character and future leadership potential. we follow up regularly with schools , we enable our players get some bursaries in schools, we expect parents to pay and where we can we provide resources in addition to school fees that are important to education success
HEALTH
In areas we serve in kids health improves significantly when they learn basic hygiene practices and have access to the basic tools of personal hygiene. Access to medical care is an unaffordable luxury to so many people in the areas we serve. our coaches do periodic health trainings with the children and families they serve. We have also helped them combine soccer trainings and personal hygiene so kids learn both at the same time. GIRL CHILD EMPOWERMENT
So many girls are victims of abuse, marginalization, and so many with emotional consequences. with our number of programs and projects we put girls in position to participate, learn, study and have access to opportunities. FEEDING PROGRAM. You can not underestimate the value of a hot meal for a hungry child in a slum. we provide a simple meal in conjunction with sports activity.
