INTRODUCTION
Community Wing for Sustainable Development (COWSD) is a registered Non-profit making Local Organization located in Tororo District in Eastern part of Uganda. The organization represents all sections of society (Children, Youths, Women, Men, People with disability, Elderly including People Living with HIV and AIDS) regardless of gender, age, religion, political affiliation and cultural
difference. VISION
To contribute to the National response to reach the critically and moderately vulnerable group with comprehensive, effective and quality services. MISSION
To work diligently with all partners across the globe to improve the quality of lives of the most poor people and vulnerable group through knowledge/capacity building, socio-economic empowerment, food and nutrition security, good leadership, sustainable environment use and protection of; children, women, youths, Elderly people, people with disability, people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS and other vulnerable persons in the community against any forms of violation using community based approach. Restoring hope is a key to peaceful society. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
• Secure and promote long term safety, well-being and permanent families for children affected by domestic violence.
• Facilitate the development of young people and promote their active participation in the socio-economic, cultural and sustainable development of their community.
• Guide and support community based response to gender based violence, women empowerment and maternal health.
• Promote adult literacy, access to education and retention of orphans and other vulnerable children in school.
• Advocate for agriculture practice and income security projects such as labor saving farming techniques and income generating activities.
• Expand the depth of SRH, HIV/AIDS, and other STIs communication for effective prevention and behavior change including provision of comprehensive care and support for people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
• Promote good leadership and a society where elderly people and people with disability can be ensured of respect and the opportunity to information, participation in socio-economic development and decision making throughout their lives.
• Conduct research and move target audience from being to being informed (giving them well researched information).
• Promote sustainable use and conservation of environment.
• Promote public awareness about human rights and civil responsibilities through seminars, workshops, conferences and publication.
