RUDINET is a registered community based Organization founded in 1998 and registered in 2001 with Rukungiri district Local Government under registration number 018. The organization has its headquarters in Rukungiri Municipality and is currently implementing its activities in the entire district of Rukungiri. The organization is a non-profit making and non denominational. It is a member of the Dist
rict HIV/AIDS service organizations in Rukungiri and serves as an umbrella organization that coordinates all the 12 sub county PHA networks within the District. The organization is a member of National Forum of People Living with HIV/AIDS Networks in Uganda (NAFOPHANU)
The organization’s mission is: To coordinate, strengthen and support robust community level livelihood programs for PLHIV and their families in the communities of Rukungiri District. • To increase the uptake of comprehensive HIV prevention services among the youth and adults in Rukungiri district.
• To support the income generating activities of the women, youth and PLHIV groups
• To provide legal aid services to the indigent groups like PLHIV, orphans and widows
• To empower the youth and women to access sexual reproductive health services. The organization activities are mainly community based activities and Much of RUDINET’s work is in HIV/AIDS. Our core interventions in this program are: EMTCT, PLHIV, Home Based Care,HCT,SMC,community Dialogues, Youth Friendly services, Community linkages and Refferals,Peer education and Sexual Reproductive Health.RUDINET implements all these programs in the 830 villages,80 Parishes and 12 sub-counties of Rukungiri district. Also, RUDINET conducts interventions for the youth especially in the area of life skills training, entrepreneurship and financial literacy and this is done through capacity building and livelihood programmes. RUDINET is implementing this activity in the districts of Bushenyi, Mbarara and Rukungiri. This is being done in partnership with District based organizations of Action for Youth Development in Mbarara, Bushenyi District Youth Network and Other youth community Based organizations in Rukungiri. RUDINET continue to collaborate with many other partners and stakeholders in trying to fulfill its mission and promise of reaching the underserved communities in its operational area. The organization values partnerships and networks so much since this is vital to leverage on the community based resources. And thus, the organization works with District, MOH, Sub county stakeholders and a robust network of community Volunteers and PLHIV Networks. Management and staffing:
RUDINET is managed by an Executive committee comprising of 9 members whose role is to provide strategic leadership to the organization. This management committee reports to the General Assembly which is the overall body that approves RUDINET strategic Plans and policies. Also, the organization has a team of six full time staff trained in diverse programs and these provide day today personnel requirements and support to the organization. This is a dynamic team that drives RUDINET Mission forward.
