We went back to New Kivu, a community of newly arrived refugees in Nakivale Refugee Settlement, for a follow-up session with girls and women who had received menstrual flow cups.

The session gave us an opportunity to hear about their experiences using the cups and how they have helped them overcome some of the challenges they previously faced during their periods.

The heartfelt appreciation and gratitude shared by the women and girls showed how meaningful this support has been. What once brought discomfort and struggles during their periods is now being managed with greater confidence, dignity, and comfort

Together, we are creating lasting change in the lives of girls and women in Nakivale.

Today, at We Empower Her vocational center officially launched its first Craft-Making Training at the Vocational Center, creating a space where women and girls can learn, create, and discover the power of their own hands.

Through practical, hands-on learning, participants are gaining skills, knowledge, creativity, and confidence tools that can become opportunities for income, independence, and a stronger future.

This is more than craft-making. It is about turning talent into skills, skills into opportunities, and opportunities into empowerment.

At Kisura B Village in Rubondo zone, women and girls came together for an engaging menstrual health education session.

Through open conversations and practical learning, participants explored the menstrual cycle, menstrual hygiene, and the proper use and care of menstrual flow cups.

The joyful moments, smiles, questions, and active participation made the session a meaningful space for learning, confidence-building, and breaking the silence around menstruation.

Because when women and girls have the right knowledge, they can make informed choices and manage their periods with confidence and dignity.

Creating spaces to learn, ask questions, and take control of menstrual health.

At Crisco Church, we spent time with 60 women and girls from the Sudan Community, sharing practical knowledge around menstrual and reproductive health.

The session was filled with participation, conversation, and learning because access to the right information can change how women and girls experience their periods.

Through menstrual health education and reusable menstrual cups, we are working to reduce the barriers that can keep girls from school and women from their daily work.

When knowledge meets access, confidence grows and so does opportunity.

We are the first women-led organization in Nakivale Refugee Settlement focusing on menstrual health education and this moment means so much to us.

The hard work, the stigma we faced when we started these conversations back in 2019 going from community to community making menstruation an easier subject to talk about with a dream of one day opening a Women’s Centre now is a living dream🎉💛

It’s an honor to open our doors in the presence of local authorities, school partners and community members who continue to support our work 🩸✨

At Light to Progress Primary School, We Empower Her delivered a menstrual health education session that empowered girls with the knowledge to manage their periods safely and confidently.

As part of the session, 36 girls received reusable menstrual flow cups together with user manuals providing guidance on proper use, cleaning, and care. This support helps them stay in school, protect their health, and embrace their future with confidence.
