ALLIED RESILIENCE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
PROFILE
ARCD is non-profit, non-political, inter-denominational children ministry organization that was established in 2011 by a group of individuals arising out of the crisis that has been caused by HIV/AIDS, poverty and other amenities in Pallisa district in Eastern Uganda. To ensuring healthy child development as an investment in the community. Psychosoc

ial and cognitive are key approaches intended to strengthen the capacity and nurture the child’s physical wellbeing in an holistic manner

ARCD was founded as a development arm of the Life Pentecostal church in 2010. It was established with a mandate to help and support disadvantaged children, sustain livelihoods and human rights for the most vulnerable members of the community. The vulnerable children may be orphaned, neglected, school dropouts, abandoned or simply living in acute poverty and are frequently affected by the ravages of HIV/AIDS and other illnesses. Currently the country is home to nearly 2.4 million children who have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS, extreme poverty and civil conflict. In fact, Uganda has the largest orphan population per capita of any country in the world. ARCD is facing challenges to meet the social needs of the OVC and the rest of the communities surrounding us in the areas we operate. Most of these demands are caused by gross poverty in the rural areas and effects of HIV/AIDS. Top in our records are many children who are orphans. Most of them lost parents because of HIV/AIDS. Unfortunately, even some of these children contracted the disease at birth and live with it now. We also have a big number of youth, both boys and girls, who neither go to school nor have jobs. This has caused great idleness among them and has promoted among other things immorality, criminality, early pregnancies among underage girls and the spread of HIV/AIDS.ARCD with other stakeholders is trying to intervene by establishing Orphanages and outreaches to complement those Government efforts in trying to address the same problems. It is our opinion that we would best address these problems by providing Good quality formal and vocational education to these children and the youth. Since 2011, ARCD launched a community based education on health related issues; HIV/AIDS prevention malaria control, maternal health water sanitation and hygiene environmental protection with focus to climate change adaptation. Community development which address immediate and long term needs of the community; many of whom for orphans and vulnerable children, single and grand mothers’ circles child mothers youths and women
