As a government-sponsored student living off-campus at Makerere University during my bachelor’s degree, I chose to give up my allowance every semester so I could serve the young people in my community.
Together with my team, we them skills like acting, knitting, baking, jewelry making, and more.
At that time, as a second-year student, I didn’t know much about running projects. All I knew was that my heart was set on serving.
Reflecting on the last 8 months, from October 2025 to now, I feel deeply fulfilled. I have been privileged to join a community that truly cares for young people and it feels like a natural extension of the dream I have always carried.
I feel fulfilled, happier, and better equipped with the knowledge and passion to keep serving young people even more.
Today, I no longer see my childhood goals and dreams as just childish things. I believe that what we love as children is often only a stone’s throw away from the realities we live as adults.
