Alive Mother, Alive Child Initiative (A.M.C.I) is a nongovernmental, not for profit, nonreligious, community organisation founded by a group of Nurses formerly from Kuluva school of Nursing, and likeminded community members in Nebbi District, with the major aim of improving women’s health, infant and child health and family health at large. It empowers women and girls, prot
ects their lives and those of children to enable them grow to their full potential. We believe that healthy women are the foundation for strong communities; and healthy children are the future of the new healthy and brighter generation. VISION

OBJECTIVES
• To educate and empower women and girls about maternal health issues
• Strengthen maternal and child health care systems
• Mobilize and educate communities on the benefits of maternal and child health
• To mobilize substantial financial support for expanding priority interventions aiming to reduce maternal, newborn and child deaths
• To improve maternal and child health and those of their families
• To identify policy issues that needs to be strengthened in order to enable access to appropriate reproductive health and maternal care
• To partner with local, national, international organizations and government agencies that promote gender issues and children’s rights to find everlasting solution to gender base violence, child abuse, economic and social empowerment; HIV and AIDS issues
• Identify and strengthen useful traditional health care practices that promote maternal and child health
ACTIVITIES
In order to accomplish our mission, AMCI will be but won’t be limited to;
a. Promoting the delivery of high quality family centered health services for women, infants, children, and adolescents
b. Identifying and assessing the health factors and conditions of families that adversely affect their social, economic and health status
c. Promoting early prenatal care, breast feeding, provision of nutritious food, health education and referrals preventive and primary care services
d. Developing and promoting effective outreach and identification, including the provision of culturally sensitive and competent care coordination and management
e. Providing technical assistance to local communities to ensure the development of systems of health, nutrition education and special health care services
f. Strengthening outreach, education and marketing efforts including communications to target high risk population, local agencies and community organizations
g. Procuring and appropriately utilize funds and other resources to improve the health of families, with emphasis on women, infants, children, adolescents and children with special needs
OUR STRATEGIES
1. Advocacy for the development and Institution of supportive maternal, child and family health, public and administrative policies
2. Education of community leaders, service providers, public officials, residents and others, to increase their awareness of and involvement with health issues.
3. Involvement of stake holders in community organization and coordination of health actions to bring desired improvement in policies and their administrative implementations
4. Improve traditional practices that enhance maternal and child health and promote family and community health
5. Community education and services coordination to optimize the health of women, infants/ children and child-bearing families and to promote community health and wellbeing
