We have successfully distributed seeds to 150 farmers/Caregivers drawn from the four farmer groups in Loreng-Nakapiripirit District supported by Compassion International through the Karamoja Integrated Resilience Action Program - KIRAP . The seeds, which include Sorghum and, beans, were delivered at the Church promises.

This effort is in line to KIRAP's broader objective to enhance food security, economic prosperity, and improved livelihoods for oir Caregivers. The distribution of seeds will help ensure timely planting during the peak of this year's first planting season.

In our ongoing effort to strengthen the capacity of the local community of Loreng for disaster risk reduction, Loreng CYDC collaborated with facilitators from Nakapiripirit District Local Government to deliver a one-day training for Church & Zonal Community Disaster Management Committee Members. This training focused on knowing the disasters our community faces and how to respond to them hence empowering our participants with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.

By building this foundation of expertise, we are enhancing our communities' ability to mitigate risks and safeguard lives in the face of emergencies. Facilitators present were Mr. Loli Mark-The District Production Officer and Mr. Aleper Emmanuel-The Sub County Agricultural Officer.

Demystifying the Myth that Karamoja does not have two rainy seasons. Yes we have season 1 and Season 2.

Its about mindset and passion, for the passion for the work often determines the quality and success of the outcomes. Those who truly love farming invest time and energy into learning, adapting, and innovating because they find fulfillment in nurturing crops, raising animals, or improving soil health. This dedication fuels resilience, as agriculture is not without challenges—weather conditions, market fluctuations, and pest infestations can be significant hurdles. But when a farmer loves what they do, each challenge becomes an opportunity to learn and improve.

Through the Karamoja Integrated Resilience Action Program - KIRAP we have build strong, supportive communities. Our passionate Caregivers/farmers often share knowledge, support local economies, and foster connections among other community members. Their enthusiasm can inspire younger generations to see agriculture not just as work but as a meaningful and rewarding vocation.
