New jerseys for the Msingi Soccer Academy

Some time ago, the Msingi Soccer Academy received 100 new jersey sets – consisting of a jersey, shorts and socks. The field players now play in orange and blue, while our goalkeepers wear turquoise.

This is a big step for Msingi. On match days, we can now present ourselves in a uniform, professional and proud manner. The jerseys strengthen the Academy’s image and the players‘ sense of togetherness.

This purchase was made possible by donations from volunteers Jonas and Sarah. We are very grateful for this.

Call for donations:
In Uganda, we currently lack a good camera to take high-quality pictures and videos of training sessions and matches. These are important for making our work visible.
If you would like to support us in purchasing a camera, we would be grateful for any donation.

Gloria Atimango has been working as a caretaker at the Msingi Soccer Academy since the beginning of January. She comes from Gulu in north-western Uganda and got the job through a friend from church. She previously worked at a school, where she taught and looked after children. She loves working with children, who greet her cheerfully even after work.

During school term time, Gloria gets up at 5 a.m., prepares breakfast and wakes the boys at 5:30 a.m. so that they can get to school on time. During the holidays, she cooks, supervises training and does the laundry. Cooking skills, good communication and a positive attitude towards children are important for her work.

The former volunteers recently returned to Germany after spending a year in Uganda. Shortly afterwards, the Msingi Soccer Academy welcomed two new volunteers: Niklas and Klaas, who are now actively supporting the team on site and bringing a breath of fresh air to the academy’s work.
Niklas deliberately chose to do voluntary service because he wanted to experience something completely different. In his free time, he does a lot of sport, and is particularly enthusiastic about running and football, but actually enjoys any kind of ball sport. If he were to describe himself in three words, they would be „relaxed, funky and pragmatic“ – even if these characteristics only make up a small part of his personality. Together with his flatmate Klaas, he now works at the Msingi Soccer Academy, where he takes on tasks related to football training. In the coming weeks, the two will also help organise physical education classes at two different primary schools.
After graduating from high school, Klaas was also looking for a way to combine his desire for new experiences with his enthusiasm for sport. He heard about ASC Göttingen from his mother – and found exactly the right thing for this year. He is very much looking forward to passing on his passion for sport, as he often spends his free time on the football pitch himself, either as a player or as a coach. If he had to describe himself in three words, they would be „empathetic, loyal and fair“. He also enjoys meeting up with friends and listening to music.
With Niklas and Klaas, the academy now has two committed, sports-loving and motivated volunteers on site who will enrich both the training work and everyday school life in the coming months.

Just a few days before flying back to Germany, Timo (volunteer at Msingi) taught a sports theory lesson to the boys at the academy. He had planned the lesson some time ago, but preparing and translating the scientific content took a lot of time, so he could only finish preparing it towards the end of the volunteer service. Then, relatively spontaneously, he had the idea that it would be nice for the boys to have something to hang up at the Msingi house after the lesson. During his last week in Uganda, he designed posters on various topics with the support of Sarah.
Once all the preparations were complete, the big day finally arrived. The boys listened with interest to scientific findings relevant to soccer. For instance, they learned which exercises they could do on their own to build strength and jumping power. They also learned about the anatomical principles underlying training theory, as well as the injuries that can occur while playing soccer and how to prevent them.

Last weekend, we played a friendly match against Super League team Kampala Queens FC at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.
Our boys from the Msingi Soccer Academy gained a lot of experience and won the game convincingly with a score of 7-0.

At Msingi, we aim to help players grow personally. To this end, the academy provides a safe environment that fosters self-belief and self-awareness. This boosts their confidence, making it easier for them to take on leadership roles.

Today, we would like to introduce you to three Msingi players who exemplify this approach by taking on various leadership roles at school. These roles allow the boys to grow and develop as individuals, increasing their self-confidence.

MDFA Junior League⚽️

During the school holidays at the end of August, the Msingi Soccer Academy took part in the first round of the Mukono Football Association’s U15 Kids League. With three wins from four games, it currently ranks second out of twelve teams. The aim is to defend this result in the second round during the Christmas holidays.

Sammy, the academy’s CEO, was one of the driving forces behind the start of the league. He sees it as a greater opportunity for the players than tournaments: more playing practice, the opportunity to analyze mistakes and work on them in a targeted manner, and the challenge of staying focused over a longer period of time. To ensure that everyone benefits in the future, U13 and U16 leagues are also set to start next year.

The Msingi Soccer Academy – more than just soccer

In the future, the Msingi Soccer Academy will be more than just a soccer academy. It will be a place where children and young people can not only play soccer, but also learn, grow, and shape their future. Education, athletic development, and personal growth are our focus.
Our vision extends beyond the soccer field: we dream of training grounds, classrooms, accommodation, medical care, a swimming pool, a stadium, and much more – a place that offers many opportunities.
The images we show are created with AI – but they represent our dreams and goals for Ugandan children and young people.

Sammy Maloba is the CEO and one of the founders of Msingi Soccer Academy. As a proud Ugandan, he is passionate about teaching young talents not only football, but also important values for life.
In his role as CEO, he coordinates the academy’s operations and ensures that everything runs smoothly. At the same time, he is also an active part of the coaching team and is on the pitch with the boys himself to help them develop both athletically and personally.
For Sammy, football is more than just a game - he sees it as an opportunity to change lives. This conviction characterises his work every day:
„My desire is for God to be glorified through football.“
