For a year, 72-year-old Jajja Francis Ndidde has battled a rare skin condition — painful swelling and relentless itching that made even simple daily tasks feel impossible.

Thanks to consistent care from ROTOM's health team, Francis is finding comfort again. The swelling has eased. The itching has loosened its grip. And along the way, he's gained something just as precious — a community of friends to share meals and conversation with.

"ROTOM has blessed me with a new family and friends... I am really thankful," Francis shares.

Francis still has a long road ahead. So do many other seniors quietly enduring chronic illness in silence. Your support can help more Jajjas find the comfort, care, and dignity they deserve.

Thank you for making clean water possible.

Because of the generosity of our donors and partners, 56 vulnerable older persons' households have already received rainwater harvesting tanks this year—bringing safe water, restored dignity, and renewed hope closer to home.

We're also excited to share that 20 more water tanks will soon be installed in Muhanga, moving us even closer to our annual goal of 100 water tanks.

Every tank means an older person no longer has to walk long distances for unsafe water. It means better health, greater independence, and a more dignified life.

To everyone who has supported this journey—thank you. Your compassion is transforming lives.

As we celebrate this milestone, we invite more friends and partners to join us. Together, we can reach our goal and ensure even more vulnerable older persons have access to safe, clean water.

Every water tank changes a life. Every gift brings us closer.

From believing she was a failure to becoming the top Mathematics student in her Primary Seven class, Mary's journey is a powerful reminder of what a second chance can do.

After dropping out of school because of financial hardship, Mary was given the opportunity to return to school through ROTOM. Today, she is preparing for her Primary Leaving Examinations this November with one dream in her heart:

"I enjoy studying at the ROTOM School, and when I grow up, I want to become a doctor."

Your support is helping children like Mary rewrite their stories—one lesson, one dream, and one opportunity at a time.

From losing both her parents as a child to finding purpose in serving others, Frida Masenze's journey is a beautiful reminder that God can transform our deepest pain into a calling.

Today, at 66 years old, Frida is one of ROTOM's dedicated volunteers, faithfully visiting older persons in her community with nothing more than a listening ear, a compassionate heart, and a joyful smile. Though she receives no salary, she continues to serve because she knows that sometimes the greatest gift you can give someone is your presence.

"When I started volunteering with ROTOM, I learned the power of simply showing up and listening. Many older persons have no one to confide in. I proudly took on that responsibility."

Volunteers like Frida are the heartbeat of our mission, ensuring that older persons are seen, heard, and reminded that they are deeply loved.

Thank you, Frida, and to every ROTOM volunteer who selflessly gives their time to help older persons live dignified and fulfilled lives.

Clean water changes everything.

For many older persons in rural Uganda, accessing water means walking long distances to ponds, swamps, and streams—often carrying heavy jerrycans despite age, illness, or disability. The water they collect is frequently unsafe, putting their health and dignity at risk.

In 2019, ROTOM launched the Safe Water Access Program to change this reality. Since then, 808 rainwater harvesting tanks have been installed, bringing safe, clean water directly to the homes of vulnerable older persons.

Each tank means:
Fewer long and exhausting journeys for water.
Better health through access to clean rainwater.
More time for rest, family, and daily living.
Restored dignity and independence.

But our work is not finished.

Every year, our goal is to install 100 more water tanks, reaching older persons who are still waiting for this life-changing gift. Every tank installed brings us one step closer to our vision of ensuring that every older person can live a dignified and fulfilled life with safe water at home.

Together, we can turn rain into hope, dignity, and lasting change.

At 84 years old, Fred Sempa Minani and his wife Joyce have spent a lifetime working hard to provide for their family. Together, they raised four children, cared for two grandsons since infancy, and relied on coffee farming and small gardens of matooke and cassava to survive.

But as age, poor health, and harsh weather took their toll, even growing enough to feed their family became a struggle.

"I grow coffee, but because of the harsh climate recently and my health, I have not been able to grow anything," Fred shares.

For years, accessing healthcare was nearly impossible. The nearest government hospital was far away, while nearby clinics charged more than they could ever afford.

Today, that burden has been lifted.

Through ROTOM, Fred and Joyce can now receive the medical care they need without worrying about the cost.

"We are really happy and thankful to ROTOM because now we are able to easily access medical care without spending a penny," they say with grateful smiles.

Your generosity is restoring more than health—it is restoring hope, dignity, and the assurance that our elderly are not forgotten.

Thank you for standing with seniors like Fred and Joyce. Together, we are changing lives, one act of compassion at a time.

"Returning to Uganda this year was more than just a trip, it was a homecoming."

For many years, Lisa Tokpa has been part of the ROTOM family, serving on both our Ugandan and U.S. boards and championing our mission to support older persons and vulnerable children.

During her recent visit, Lisa had the opportunity to reconnect with the beloved jajjas, attend a fellowship gathering, and visit the ROTOM school she has supported from afar for many years.

Reflecting on her experience, Lisa shared that one of her greatest joys is spending time with the jajjas—sharing meals, dancing, listening to their stories, and witnessing the resilience and gratitude that define the ROTOM community.

"Time spent with them always reminds me of what truly matters."

Seeing the school firsthand was another highlight. What she had previously experienced through reports and board meetings came to life in vibrant classrooms, eager learners, and proud grandparents whose dreams for their grandchildren are becoming reality.

Thank you, Lisa, for your friendship, commitment, and continued belief in the work of ROTOM. Your visit was a beautiful reminder that together, we are restoring dignity, strengthening families, and creating opportunities that ripple across generations.
