Since 2008, Kingsway Christian High School has been providing a Christian education to orphans and vulnerable youth who survived the war with the Lord’s Resistance Army in northern Uganda. Kingsway Christian High School was established in 2008 and is licensed and registered through the Ministry of Education in Uganda. The school has historically operated independently and sustainably, by enrolling
paying students whose school fees allow impoverished youth to attend for free. The school is owned and directed by Rev. Dr. Milly Maturu Erema, Ph.D., who is also a professor of Old Testament at Uganda Christian University in Mukono. During the 15 years of its existence, the school has given hundreds of youth a quality Christian education. Many of these young people are orphans or survivors of the horrifying Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) conflict in northern Uganda. Others have lost parents to AIDS. “Unstoppable with Christ” is the school’s motto, reflecting Milly’s earnest faith and awe for Christ who has accomplished miracles in the lives of her students. Some have gone on to university and good jobs, a fate impossible for impoverished youth otherwise. The two-year COVID shutdown devastated the economy of Uganda and put many schools out of business. It threatened Kingsway as well. During this crisis, friends of Milly in the US realized the need to find outside charitable support for Kingsway Christian High School. Kingsway Ministries is a fiscally sponsored project of the Christian Ministry Alliance. The Kingsway Ministries US Financial Oversight Board is in Holland, Michigan, and chaired by Lois Tverberg.
