🌱 Grateful for the Opportunity!

We’re excited to share that Munansi Green Initiative has been selected among the Top 50 of the Uganda Climate Innovation Challenge (UCIC) 2026 under the Circular Regenerative Agriculture theme. πŸŽ‰πŸŒ

Special appreciation to YALI Uganda Central Cluster Chair, Mawejje Dimma of Mawejje Creations, for sharing this opportunity, mentorship and support throughout the process. I also appreciate Chapter Chair Aanyu Jessica Sheila, Maxwell from Communications, and the entire leadership team for continuously creating and sharing opportunities.

To my fellow YALI alumni: let’s always take advantage of opportunities shared by our leadership. They are intentional about creating opportunities for the entire community and chapter. Sometimes, the difference is simply taking the step to apply.

When one of us rises, we all rise. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¬πŸŒπŸŒ±

Special thanks to GAYO, YALI Uganda, Mawejje Dimma, and the U.S. Mission Uganda for making this opportunity possible. And a big thank you to the United States for creating and supporting platforms like this that bring young Ugandan leaders, innovators and changemakers together to learn, connect and create impact. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¬πŸŒ±

🌍 From Local Action to Global Dialogue: Munansi at the IPPO Conference

We were proud to have Munansi Green Initiative represented at the recently concluded International Patriotic Pact Organization (IPPO) Conference, where our representative delivered a speech highlighting the power of nature-based solutions (NbS) in building resilient communities and creating sustainable livelihoods.

The speech placed women, youth, and smallholder farmers at the heart of climate and environmental actionβ€”recognizing them not merely as beneficiaries, but as leaders, innovators, custodians of nature, and drivers of community transformation.

🌱 From agroforestry and biodiversity conservation to sustainable beekeeping, regenerative agriculture and ecosystem restoration, nature-based solutions can connect environmental protection with economic empowerment.

At Munansi Green Initiative, we believe that meaningful transformation begins at the community level. When women have stronger economic opportunities, when young people are equipped with knowledge and skills, and when farmers have access to sustainable solutions, communities become more resilient.

Global change begins with local action. 🌍🌱

🌍 September to Remember | From Exchange to Impact

As we conclude our Homecoming Month, I’ve been reflecting on my YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa experience in Nairobi, where I participated in the Civic Engagement track.

I went to Nairobi to learn about leadership and civic participation. I returned with a deeper understanding that leadership is not just about having answersβ€”it is about listening, building relationships, creating space for others, and turning learning into action.

Years later, those lessons continue to shape what I do.

Today, through Munansi Green Initiative, I work with young people, women, farmers, schools and communities to advance climate resilience, environmental restoration, regenerative livelihoods and nature-based solutions.

From Nairobi to Mubende, the journey continues.

The greatest measure of an exchange experience is not where you went, but what you do with what you learned when you return home. 🌱

From learning to action.
From exchange to impact.
From leadership to service. 🌍

🐝🌱 Sometimes, one learning experience can change the direction of a lifeβ€”and eventually, touch an entire community.

We are incredibly proud of our Co-Founder and Head of Operations & Research, Byaruhanga Crispus, whose journey with the Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice has grown from learning into action.

What began as a space to understand climate justice became a deeper commitment to serve communities, protect nature, and create livelihoods that leave no one behind.

Today, through Munansi Green Initiative, that journey is alive in the buzzing of bees, the planting of trees, the restoration of ecosystems, and the determination of farmers, women and young people building more resilient communities in Uganda. 🌳🐝❀️

For Crispus, beekeeping is not simply about honey.

It is about protecting pollinators.
It is about restoring nature.
It is about creating dignified livelihoods.
It is about empowering communities.
And above all, it is about showing that local people can be powerful agents of climate action.

His story reminds us that climate justice is not only discussed in conference rooms. It is lived in our communities, farms, forests and wetlandsβ€”and it begins when knowledge becomes action.

We are grateful to the Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice for walking part of this journey with us and for sharing Crispus’ story.

πŸ“’ PUBLICATION ALERT | FROM CLIMATE JUSTICE LEARNING TO COMMUNITY ACTION 🐝🌍

I am excited and deeply honoured to share that my journey from the Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice (NSSCJ) to community-led climate action in Mubende, Uganda, has been featured in a new publication by the Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice.

The story, β€œFrom the Nairobi Summer School to a Thriving Beekeeping Initiative in Uganda,” documents how lessons from climate justice training helped shape my work with Munansi Green Initiative and the development of the Mubende United Beekeepers Association (MUBA).

What started with a deeper understanding that climate change, biodiversity loss, environmental degradation and livelihoods are interconnected has grown into a community-led initiative bringing farmers, women and young people together to protect pollinators, restore ecosystems and build sustainable livelihoods. (nsscj.org)

Today, MUBA has grown to 345 members, including 143 women and 116 youth, while supporting beekeepers and households through training, equipment, savings, markets and conservation initiatives. (nsscj.org)

For me, this publication represents more than a personal story. It is evidence that knowledge can become action, and action can become a movement.

The Nairobi Summer School taught me that climate justice must be rooted in communities. Back home in Mubende, we are putting that principle into practiceβ€”one farmer, one bee colony, one tree and one community at a time. 🌱🐝

πŸ™πŸΎ I am grateful to the Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice for documenting and amplifying this journey, and to the farmers, women, youth, community leaders and partners who continue to make this work possible.

Mubende United Beekeepers Association (MUBA) β€” a farmer-led cooperative and SACCO established to unite beekeepers, strengthen their collective voice, and create better economic opportunities for farmers across Mubende.

Under the stewardship of Munansi Green Initiative, MUBA will support beekeepers to work together in areas including:

🍯 Collective honey production and marketing
🐝 Improved beekeeping practices and productivity
πŸ’° Savings, financial inclusion and access to affordable credit
πŸ“¦ Value addition and quality improvement of bee products
🀝 Stronger market linkages and collective bargaining
🌳 Pollinator conservation and protection of natural ecosystems
πŸ‘©πŸΎβ€πŸŒΎ Greater opportunities for women and youth in beekeeping

The cooperative model is built on a simple principle: when farmers organize, save together, produce together and access markets together, they become stronger and more resilient.

This is more than a cooperative. It is a platform for sustainable livelihoods, climate resilience, biodiversity conservation and community transformation.

Munansi Green Initiative is committed to supporting MUBA as it grows into a strong, transparent and farmer-owned institution serving the beekeeping community of Mubende and beyond.

🐝 United by Bees. Empowered by Cooperation. Growing Together. 🌱

🌱🐝 A Major Milestone for Climate-Smart Agriculture in Mubende District! πŸ„β˜•

Today, we celebrate the official launch of the Uganda Climate Smart Agricultural Transformation Project (UCSATP), a transformative initiative by the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), with support from the World Bank and other key partners.

The project aims to improve productivity, market access, and climate resilience across selected agricultural value chains including coffee, dairy, beef, beneficial insects (beekeeping), and aquaculture. Through the Electronic Voucher System, farmer groups will receive critical agricultural inputs, with farmers contributing 20% and Government supporting 80% of the input package costs.

As a proud beneficiary, Munansi Green Initiative, through the Munansi Hives Project, will directly support 20 farmers with capacity building, climate-smart beekeeping inputs, and modern apiculture equipment. This support includes:

βœ… Over 200 KTB beehives
βœ… 20 complete beekeeping kits
βœ… Essential pre-harvest beekeeping equipment
βœ… Technical training and extension support

This investment will strengthen sustainable livelihoods, increase honey production, enhance pollination services, conserve biodiversity, and build climate resilience among farming communities in Mubende District.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Government of Uganda, MAAIF, the World Bank, Mubende District Local Government, district leaders, extension workers, farmer groups, and all stakeholders whose commitment is making this vision a reality.

Together, we are building a more resilient, productive, and sustainable agricultural future for Uganda. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¬πŸŒ

🐝🌍 Happy World Bee Day from Munansi Green Initiative 🌍🐝

At Munansi Green Initiative, we celebrate the incredible role bees play in sustaining life, protecting biodiversity, and strengthening food systems. 🌼🍯

Bees are more than honey producers β€” they are essential pollinators that support forests, farms, fruits, vegetables, and the ecosystems we all depend on. Through pollination, bees help communities achieve better harvests, improved nutrition, and healthier environments. 🌳🌺

Through our Munansi Hives Project, we work with farmers, youth, schools, and communities to:
🐝 Promote sustainable beekeeping
🌱 Protect wild bee populations and habitats
🌼 Support pollination and ecosystem restoration
πŸ’› Empower communities with green livelihoods and income opportunities

Every hive protected is a step toward a greener, healthier, and more resilient future for people and nature. 🌍✨

On this World Bee Day, let us all work together to protect bees and conserve the natural ecosystems they depend on. Because when bees thrive, communities thrive too. 🍯🌿
