🌍 TOHAid Wins Seeding Funding for Climate Change and Migration Research in Uganda!
We are excited to share that TOHAid has secured seeding funding to conduct research on Climate Change and Migration in Uganda.
On 8 September 2026, our Executive Director, Benefice Tuyisenge, joined fellow refugee researchers and academic scholars at Makerere University for an orientation workshop exploring the complex relationship between climate change, migration, displacement, indigenous knowledge, and community resilience.
The research initiative is supported by the Mastercard Foundation through the University of Cambridge, in partnership with the Makerere University College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Throughout the day, participants explored important topics including climate change and migration in Uganda's history, human adaptation, indigenous ecological knowledge, displacement, environmental governance, livelihoods, and ethical considerations when conducting research with displaced communities.
The session concluded with an insightful roundtable discussion on research methodology, strengthening participants' understanding of how to conduct inclusive, ethical, and impactful research.
For TOHAid, this opportunity is more than research—it is an opportunity to ensure that refugee and displaced communities are not only subjects of research but active contributors to knowledge, solutions, and policies that affect their lives.
We are proud to be part of this important journey toward strengthening refugee-led research, climate action, and evidence-based solutions.
🌱 The voices of communities experiencing climate change and displacement must be at the center of the solutions.
