Guma Na Yesu

Guma Na Yesu Based in Mbarara, Guma Na Yesu Foundation is driven by one truth: God has no dustbin for wasted people.

Through active evangelism, church planting, and caring for 1,000+ orphans, our mission is to reach out, rescue, and restore lives for Christ. What we believe

The Fundamental Truths explain our theology and are a statement of faith - they are powerful, non-negotiable and guide all we say and do. They can be summarised as follows:

The Bible
We believe the Bible, as originally given, to be without error, the fully inspired and infallible Word of God and the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct. The Trinity
We believe that the Godhead exists co-equally and co-eternally in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - and that these three are one God, sovereign in creation, providence and redemption. The Saviour
We believe in the true and proper deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His real and complete humanity, in His sinless life, in His authoritative teaching, in His substitutionary and atoning sacrifice through His blood shed, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His heavenly intercession and His second advent to receive His Church. The Holy Spirit
We believe in the deity of the Holy Spirit who proceeds from the Father and the Son and the necessity of His work in conviction of sin, repentance, regeneration and sanctification, and that the believer is also promised an enduement of power as the gift of Christ through the baptism in the Holy Spirit with signs following. Through this enduement the believer is empowered for fuller participation in the ministry of the Church, its worship, evangelism and service. Mankind
We believe in the universal sinfulness of all men since the Fall, rendering man subject to God’s wrath and condemnation. Salvation
We believe in the necessity for salvation of repentance towards God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by which the sinner is pardoned and accepted as righteous in God’s sight. This justification is imputed by the grace of God because of the atoning work of Christ, is received by faith alone and is evidenced by the Fruit of the Spirit and a holy life. The Church
We believe in the spiritual unity and the priesthood of all believers in Christ and that these comprise the universal Church, the Body of Christ. The Ministry
We believe in the ministries that Christ has set in His Church, namely, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers and in the present operation of the manifold Gifts of the Holy Spirit according to the New Testament. The Ordinances
We believe in the baptism of believers in water in obedience to the command of Christ and the commemoration of Christ’s death by the observance of the Lord’s Supper until His return. The Commission
We believe that the Gospel embraces the needs of the whole man and that the Church is therefore commissioned to preach the Gospel to the world and to fulfil a ministry of healing and deliverance to the spiritual and physical needs of mankind. The Coming King
We believe in the personal, physical and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to reign in power and glory. The Future State
We believe in the resurrection of the dead and in the final judgement of the world, the eternal conscious bliss of the righteous and the eternal conscious punishment of the wicked.

The evening dust rose in soft amber clouds against a blazing sky, where the sunset painted the horizon in rich bands of gold and crimson.

The wilderness can be a cold and unforgiving place for those left behind—a vast shadow-land where the world too easily abandons what it considers broken, spent, or without value.

In the quiet depths of that brush sat a small, forgotten calf, trembling in the gathering dark.

The world had taught him to believe he was a castaway, a life destined for the dustbin of human neglect. But the Kingdom of God keeps no dustbin. No child is trash, no history is too shattered, and no life is ever wasted in the eyes of the Creator.

The journey of transformation began not in a comfortable sanctuary, but out in the rugged terrain where the lost wander. It started with the heavy, deliberate footsteps of a great guardian—a magnificent leader stepping into the dust to seek the vulnerable. The giant elephant did not wait for the shivering calf to find his own way out.

She reached out into his distress, her presence offering an unspoken promise: You are seen, you are loved, and you belong.

Instinctively, the small calf reached out his little trunk and wrapped it tightly around the guardian’s tail. That simple, desperate grip became his lifeline. This was the moment of rescue, but it was also the beginning of being shepherded.

Step by careful step, the great guardian led the way, blocking the bitter winds and guiding the young one through dangerous paths. As they walked together, a steady truth echoed through every stride: Guma Na Yesu—Keep with Jesus.

To be rescued was not merely to be pulled from danger, but to learn to walk continuously in the shadow of the Almighty, anchored in the pure and undefiled love of James 1:27 that defends the fatherless and builds a shelter around the helpless.

Season by season, the gentle rhythm of care worked its miracle. The weakness in the calf's legs gave way to enduring strength; the shadow of fear in his eyes was replaced by quiet dignity. He was no longer just a survivor pulled from the wilderness; he was healed, whole, and transformed.

As a brilliant new sun crested the horizon, illuminating the path ahead with warmth and hope, the two stood side-by-side.

The guardian stepped slightly to the side, no longer just guiding a fragile follower, but preparing a strong, confident youth to walk into his destiny. He had been sought in the dark, shepherded through the valley, and fully restored—now ready to be sent forth into the sunrise, a living proof that what the world casts aside, God reclaims to lead the herd.

: Walking by Faith at Guma Na Yesu

In the 19th century, George Mueller ran an orphanage in Bristol, England, with a radical policy: he never revealed his financial needs to anyone but the Lord.

When a visitor remarked that such an institution couldn't possibly run without a good stock of funds, Mueller quietly replied: "Our funds are deposited in a bank which cannot break."

Many times, Mueller had no money, no food, and no knowledge of where the orphans' next meal would come from. Yet, he would gather the children around the table and thank the Lord for His provision. Often, while they were still praying, an unexpected donor would arrive with enough for everyone.

Right here in Mbarara, the story of the Guma Na Yesu (Keep With Jesus) Foundation echoes this exact same truth. For decades, caring for vulnerable and orphaned children hasn't been sustained by human arithmetic—it has been sustained by an unwavering trust in the ultimate Provider.

Taking in and caring for over a thousand children daily means facing monumental needs: school fees, beds, clean water, and daily meals. Yet, just like Mueller, when resources seem scarce, Evangelist Naboth K Tumuhairwe Mama Alice, and the Guma Na Yesu family have always gathered to pray and give thanks. Time after time, God proves He is in the ministry, touching the hearts of His people to participate and provide.

The eyes of faith lay hold of what God has promised to do, not what the natural eyes see happening.

Writing about the faith of Abraham, the apostle Paul reminds us that we serve a God who "calls those things which do not exist as though they did" (Romans 4:17). God doesn't just see a child in need; He sees the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10).

When we look at the rescued children here at Guma Na Yesu, God already sees future teachers, doctors, engineers, and ministers of the Gospel. The future is so certain with Him that He declares it to be an accomplished fact.

God’s provision is a certainty. Every plate of food served, every bed provided, and every child educated at Guma Na Yesu is a modern-day testament to the fact that we, too, are invested in a bank that cannot break.
