EMPOWER YOUTH IN TECHNOLOGY
EMPOWER YOUTH IN TECHNOLOGY (EYIT) is a non-governmental organization that was started in 2017 and incorporated in march 2018 by Uganda Registration Services Bureau, a government agency with a mandate to register companies and organizations in Uganda and currently working within Mbarara Municipality.
The formation of the organization is triggered by the large number of research prototypes presented by final year students in ICT fields but remain in research laboratories yet if these prototypes are turned into commercial products would increase employment opportunities for the young graduates. We discovered a need to inspire secondary, primary schools especially in rural districts in western Uganda to emphasize and embrace ICT so as to nurture students and motivate to be innovative while they are still young.
Our strategic plan is to create an innovation, technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem that inspires youth to apply their knowledge and skills obtained from school to address community challenges and create employment opportunities for themselves and others in the long run.
