Did you know young leaders have the power to shape a better future!

At the beginning of this week, Freedom Centre Uganda visited Bishop Stuart University to conduct a LEAD-HU (Leadership, Ethics & Agency for Dignified Humanism) Project training for University students.
Together we discussed: ✔ ✔ Making responsible decisions ✔ as a discipline in leadership ✔ Peaceful, non- violent communication ✔ Respect for human dignity and diversity
The students participated enthusiastically, sharing ideas on how they can become ethical leaders in their university and communities.
We also launched the idea of LEAD-HU Peer Dialogue Circles, where students will continue learning, discussing leadership challenges, and promoting freedom of thought through respectful conversations.
Thank you to Bishop Stuart University for welcoming us and to every student who contributed to making the session engaging and inspiring.
Together, we are nurturing a new generation of ethical, compassionate, and responsible leaders for nation.

Today, the Leadership Ethics Agency for Dignified Humanism (LEAD-HU) Project has brought together Bishop Stuart University students to co-create and building ethical, compassionate, and responsible leadership. Through our Humanist Leadership Training Toolkit, participants explored ethical decision-making, empathy, critical thinking, and peaceful non-violent communication —skills every young leader needs to create positive change in theircommunities.
The session was facilitated by Twesigye Leonard, Executive Director of Freedom Centre Ugand, who encouraged students dare to lead with integrity, respect for human dignity, and become champions of peaceful and inclusive communities. He emphasised that, the future belongs to young leaders who choose humanity over hatred and discrimination, active listening over judgement, and service over self.

Today, we successfully conducted a capacity-building engagement under the Women Empowerment for Humanists Equality Rights (WE-HER) initiative, bringing together young women, girls and men to strengthen their knowledge, leadership skills, and capacity to advocate for their fundamental rights and opportunities.
The workshop provided a platform for learning, sharing experiences, and discussing key organizational frameworks, including governance, safeguarding, and strategically plan on how to execute. Through the engagement, women and girls HRDs and grassroot organizations who participated gained valuable tools to become confident leaders, active and responsible citizens, and champions for their future freedoms within their communities.
At WE-HER, we believe that when women and girls are empowered with knowledge, skills, and opportunities, they become powerful drivers of social change and sustainable development.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all participants, facilitators, partners, and supporters whose commitment has made this a meaningful engagement.

What an incredible milestone for human rights in Uganda! The launch, proudly implemented by Freedom Centre Uganda in strong partnership with Humanist Association for Leadership, Equality and Accountability (HALEA) Uganda, brought together voices of humanists, atheists, non-believers and other religious minorities from all walks of life to shine a light on .
In a hybrid event (in-person + online), we heard powerful insights on status quo of secularism, discrimination in publiccommunities, stigma against non-believers, minority rights. Gratitude goes to Twesigye Leonard for his urgent concern to double check the existing policy gaps.
Huge thanks to our speakers, moderators, and every participant who made this possible, your courage and thoughtful insights are driving real change!✊
